Was talking with some buddies tonight and just couldn't get over what Mac has done for this organization in just one off season. The moves he's made to put us where we are right now is simply amazing.

Kyle Wilson has been garbage for years. For years we have watched him chase receivers. So what does Mac do? He goes out and signs Buster Skrine, an ENORMOUS upgrade.

We had severe talent issues at the receiver position. Decker was our only real threat. Mac goes out and signs Marshall, an absolute BEAST.

We have had a shit ass QB for years and years. Constant turnover prone machines. In comes Fitzpatrick, an absolute perfect signing that gives us an identity at the position we have desperately needed for what seems like centuries.

Worst secondary in the league? No problem. Signs Cro back, signs Revis, signs Gilchrist, and signs Skrine. Problem solved. Currently the most lethal secondary in the NFL.

Draft? Takes Leonard Williams in the first pick, seems to be an absolute stud. Takes Devon Smith, who adds yet another talent to our receiving group. Drafts Petty, who looks to have a very promising future. Drafts a few other guys with a lot of talent who could be big players for us in years to come.

All in one off season, his first off season as GM.

We are 2-0 right now gentleman. We just beat Andrew Luck in Indy. We completely man handled him and have a good chance of going undefeated into the bye. It's still very early, I know, but this team is Light-years ahead of last year and is shocking the shit out of me.

    Props to you Mac!

I mean all the guy did was spend money. I give him tons of credit for having the sack to pull off the Marshall trade though. Regardless, we're trending upwards and it's been half a decade since we've been able to say that, so thumbs up for Mac so far.

    One thing is spending money.

The other is spending money on the exact guys needed to put together what he has done. Built to win now with the perfect balance of youth for the future

Kyle Wilson is a real good case study in sunk costs.

As long as the existing scouting team that identified him and drafted him was still in place and had incentive to justify their decisions, he was going to get every opportunity to justify their decisions. New blood in the scouting department is the best thing that happened to the Jets.

Outstanding post Falco. Could not agree with you more. From top to bottom this organization is run by football professionals. Not only did we improve the team tremendously but he has improved the chemistry of the players even more. We have never being this cohesive of a team.

There's also the Rex factor. You know that Rex had to have final say on Wilson when he was drafted. No way the Jets were taking a CB in the 1st round without Rex being on board with it. So the personnel people are all gone and Rex is gone and finally so is Wilson.

I am glad the new regime is not afraid to move on from losers who did not perform (Wilson, Ellis, etc.). How Kyle Wilson held a job for that long with the jets is beyond me.

I'm happy we are 2-0 also but let chill for now. Does things look good now? Yes they do but we have seen this before to be let down.

A 1st round pick has to be absolutely terrible to get cut before their first deal is up. Wilson was just on the edge of terrible at times and he was on the edge of competent at others. Never got to competent but the role the Jets were asking him to play wasn't a huge role and so his failures kind of got hidden by Rex's schemes.

Also I think Rex liked him. I don't think he'd have been on the field as the nickel as often as he was if Rex didn't think he brought something to the field.

When he couldn't step up and play competently on the outside last year I think it was the last straw. The team had depth issues at CB and their 1st round CB from 2010 wasn't on the field to help out.

Disagree. We've seen spending before, but with outrageous contracts that killed the teams future. Mac's pick-ups seem to be well structured to keep or dump players without heavy penalties. He hasn't made signed players just to make a splash, there looks to be a long term plan in place.

I'm not talking about the spending. I'm talking about the way the Jets are playing.

Not taking anything away from Mac but Revis wanted to comeback to the Jets. He wanted to last season.

Eagles spent money too. How's Byron Maxwell playing? (hint: he's allowing a perfect passer rating through 2 games)
Dolphins spent money too. How's Suh doing? (hint: no impact so far and he's complaining about the defensive game plan already).

If it was just about spending money any schmuk on the street could be a GM. You're vastly minimizing Maccagnan. Granted it's only been 2 weeks, but every move appears to be a homerun so far. (Don't forget about James Carpenter).

Mac is a wizard. His years as a scout have paid off and he knows the calibre of the players he's bringing in.

Unlike Tanny who spent a fortune, signed a bunch of splashy free-agents and mortgaged the future.

The NY Jets secondary was like a beat up junker that Mac retooled into a snazzy 70's muscle car firing on all cylinders.

Both Bowles and Mac are on the same page. They are smart, savvy football professionals.

It makes a such a difference to have solid personnel among the ranks to put the Jets back in the driver's seat and heading in the right direction for a change.

The Revis signing aside , Mac still excelled.

Marshall trade/signing is looking like an absolute steal. Skrine and Gilchrist..and yes even Cro , were both solid signings.

Williams was a more than solid draft pick.

Bowles has the respect/command of the team.

So , so far so good.
