BE HONEST - How nervous were you when the Colts scored that touchdown in the 4th Quarter to cut the score to 10-7?
I mean, the Defense looked gassed as hell that drive. I remember watching the D-Line just kinda fall into the O-Line, hoping the play would come to them, getting no pressure and I'm pretty sure Revis gave up a long reception to TY and then got thrown face first into the turf lmao, so when they scored of course I was nervous. It was 10-7 against Andrew Luck in the 4th when it should have been atleast 21-7. But we took what we wanted our next possession so its all good. 2-0
Not at all. There was an odd (for a Jets fan) serenity for the whole game. Might be due to a calm, confident veteran quarterback who wasn't making big mistakes and mental errors.
I'll be honest, I was thinking that we would get a field goal to make it 13-7 and then give up a painful game losing touchdown to lose 14-13. That Packers game when we were up 24-7 still haunts me.
Felt like the goal line stand was the game. Colts score later, but they really never came back from that stand. Jets d was in their head. 5 turnovers
I thought that we would have kicked a FG, then been biting our teeth on defense. That was a different Jets team that marched down and scored a TD.
haha..a shrink thread too. but to answer the question, if smith was the qb i would have been petrified but as it was i wasn't nervous at all with the way the defense was playing for once.
I was pretty worried until we immediately responded by driving down the field and sticking a dagger in their hearts. That was a big time drive by the offense.
I was worried. We had done well on defence but the D was looking tired on that drive and the Offence has been busy running down the clock. But the next drive we just moved down the field with ease to take it away from them. Very unusual experience for us Jets fans. 20-7 looks like it was a canter. And it should have been.
Great point. But on the other hand we had too many long pass attempts (all unsuccessful) that hurt drives. I though we'd win but I was really scared. Because of Luck and I know he's capable of stealing a game like that. Scoring that TD on the next drive was huge. Give all the credit in the world to Fitz and the O on that one. With all the turnovers this game should have been a no-brainer instead of putting us in a position to possibly blow it.
Honestly, I wasn't that worried. Why? Because it seemed Gailey was slowing the offense down and relying on the defense. Was it right to do? Probably not, but I could tell that the offense wasn't going all out to score. They were playing the clock. As soon as Indy scored I knew Gailey would turn the heat up immediately. What happened next? Drove the ball 70+ yards down the field for a TD. I think he will learn his lesson this time around though
We were absolutely killing them in the short and intermediate passing game, and I have no idea why Fitz kept chucking it deep into double coverage. I also thought we played for FGs at the end of the 1st half when we clearly had them on their heels. Perhaps those deep throws made their safeties play honest and prevented them from jumping the slants on that drive after the Colts TD. Whatever the reason, that drive was a great response to the Colts score. Great job O!
Yeah, if we can limit the deep throws or at least throw them to the sideline where it's our ball or OB, then I'd feel even better about this offense. _
I have no problem taking shots down the field, and would gladly give up a few INTs (basically short punts) if it opens up the underneath stuff. One of our big problems during Rex's tenure is that we stopped throwing down field and team could just jump our underneath stuff. After a while, the opposing D isn't scared of you taking the top off the D and everything gets congested. I think it's a primary reason why we draft Devin Smith - Can't wait to see him fly by people.
Of course Devin Smith could be a difference maker on deep passes. It's his specialty and the reason he was drafted. I'm very excited to see what he can do on those types of plays.
