This thread should be a placeholder for things that were done wrong in this game. I'm looking at you, Chan Gailey. Chris Ivory ran his ass off outside the tackles against Cleveland, and aside from one outside run during the first drive, we proceeded to run up the gut for the entirety of the game - never mind the fact that there was NOTHING THERE. Chan left probably 70 ground yards on the table tonight. Easily.
I can only imagine what would if Fitz play "poorly" and our team still wins. "He only won against crappy teams"
Fitz is what he is! He will be as good as the rest of the team allows him to be. He does a nice job running the club in this type of game where the defense is solid. In more high scoring affairs he may have trouble keeping up. Let's enjoy it for what it is, 2 and o. There is plenty of time angst if it goes South.
I don't have any problem with people enjoying it for what it is. I do have a problem with people telling me how to feel about the game as a whole. I have concerns and I will voice them. Don't like that? Suck it. That's not necessarily for you, but it's somewhat of a trend for people on forums to decide what a win should mean for everyone.
Fitz wasn't good on MNF but he did enough for us to win and that's all we can ask of him or need from him. The defense looked fast and aggressive. For the first time since I've been following the Jets I feel as if we have an opportunistic defense. The run game wasnt great but I don't expect too many games like this by the RB's.
I'm only on page 1 of this thread but I have to agree with jcass10. Fitz does very well with the 5-15 yard bullets, but his 40+ yard 'bombs' seem to be simply 'launched' with a 10 yard impact radius. This being said, Fitz does seem to throw these Hail Mary's to his best WRs and only in 3rd-and-20 type situations. Seems like Marshall has been the target on all of these (our best WR) and never on 1st down, so it's kind of like a long punt if it gets picked off. I can live with it. Can't wait to see how things transpire on these long bombs when Devin Smith joins the line up. I'm not certain if Fitz has the arm strength to capitalize on Devin's speed but we'll find out next week. #lookingup
The QB job is now Fitzpatrick's to lose. If Smith came back for Philadelphia he'd be riding the bench. I don't believe the verdict on Smith has been reached, but while there's a guy successfully and confidently running the offense without making huge rookie mistakes he keeps the job.
I can't believe people are complaining about him. The offense left points on the table because there was no running game and they went full Rex conservative mode in the 2nd half. Yeah, he took some shots downfield - lol if they hadn't, you would all be complaining that they didn't take any shots downfield. He's been very solid through 2 games and unless they lose both of the next 2 games, Fitz will be the starter after the bye and most likely for the entire season unless he really shits the bed against the weaker opponents midseason. His arm strenght is also severely underrated - it's far better than Chad's ever was and Chad was a rock solid pro QB - arm strength is overrated. Let's give the guy a chance. The team is 2-0, 64% completion, 4 TD, 2 INT, and y'all are bitching. LOL
I'm only on page 3 but have lost ALL respect for zace and JStokes (lost all respect for stokes years ago but double lost it tonight) Go troll somewhere else assholes. JETS WIN!!!!!
4 td's for Fitzy 5th best in the NFL and better than Romo, Peyton, Matt Ryan, Russell Wilson. Works for me.
How the FUCK can you call his arm strength "severely underrated"? What the hell game are you watching??? At times I felt like I was seeing Chad right after he tore his shoulder apart. He was garbage outside the hash marks and beyond the 15 yard mark. Be honest with yourself, at least. That ball was practically in slow motion when it went further than 10 yards.
