I have a feeling Luck will have a bounce-back game at home, and we'll continue to get 25-yard Tight-End plays down our throat like we always do. Hopefully we can score enough to mitigate that, but, I see us losing this one like 30-24. If we had Sheldon Richardson, maybe this game is closer, but we're going to need a hell of a pass rush to keep Luck from killing us. I like that our secondary is a lot better this year, but I still don't fancy our chances. Hopefully they surprise us.
It will be hard for Luck to throw 25 yard passes from the bench. Our TOP and running game will do more to hurt Luck than our pass rush.
I would like that to be the case too, but keep in mind we just lost the time of possession battle to a bad team, while playing at home, when they only rushed for 104 yards. Also, if Luck is scoring TDs on 3 & 4 minute drives, us winning time of possession & losing the game ins't a big help. Last time we played the Colts we beat Luck 35-9, made him look average (sixth ever start was part of that). Yet, he still threw for 280 yards that day (our two QBs combined for 105), on the road, but was killed by two INTs. If we can get two INTs again, sure, I think we can win. I think people are piling on them for having a shitty week 1, on the road, against a good defense. Team went 11-5 last year, not by accident. They are hurting, and missing some guys. Hopefully we take advantage, but, it's not going to be a cakewalk.
I have no idea why so many think we will lose this game smh. If Rex can manhandle their Oline the way he did I see no reason why we can't, i see Williams having a much better game and getting pressure on Luck all game (and we all know Luck no likey pressure) I really believe we will be 2 n 0 going into week 3. This Jet team feels and looks different then past teams, I don't know what it is maybe it's Revis being back or our coach but they seem like a team we can have faith in.
Agree with this. We need to control the ball and not turn it over. If we do this we have a shot. If we control TOP and don't turn it over we are in it. If not, we are done.
I'm starting Ivory and Marshall this week. Thoughts? Ivory seems sure fire. Hopefully Marshall can get me around 8 or more.
i think our chances are better then infinitesimal as well.... but i also think you are overboard with that description. luck is a turnover machine really leaves out the part out him be extremely mobile, something we struggle against. leaves out the part about him also being a touchdown machine. also leaves out the part where he has great chemistry with fleener and the backs and tights, something we struggle to cover. the colts oline sucks. they somehow manage to deal with that every week en route to double digit win seasons. we can win, but its going to be extremely tough on the road to do that. we could dominate the run game and get a pass rush and still lose. similar to how we lost to the pats last year after running all over them and making brady turtle all game. i think the -7 line is kind of crazy, but id say colts -3.5 is about where it should be.
After seeing what Davis did to Sammy Watkins I had second thoughts on starting Marshall but then I rembered what Marshall did to Joe Haden and felt confident he'll at least put up something decent.
this is an insanely biased and pretty horrific assesment of andrew luck.... especially the "he had more turnovers then geno!" part. as if all other things were equal or something. here is what luck did last season: 4,761 yards 40 touchdowns (led the NFL) 16 interceptions 61.7 completion % 96.5 QB Rating he had at least 2 touchdowns in 14 of 16 games last year he had at least 3 touchdowns in 9 of 16 games last year so this idea where he has somehow inflated stats due to some big games is not accurate. the guy isnt overrated at all. he has a mediocure run game, a mediocure offensive line and 1 good wideout and put up riddiculous numbers while winning a ton of games and getting to the afc championship game. without much of a defense behind him. this "luck makes mistakes and is a turnover machine stuff" needs to stop. we can win. but lets not be homers about it
he is the closest thing in the league to rodgers. and it wasnt just a "few" monster games. he had at least 3 total touchdowns in 9 fo 16 games and at least 2 in 14 of 16 games. guy is a complete beast. he also doesnt have the run game or line rodgers does.
once sheldon is back, yea. but he wont be back until week 5. and who knows if that gets longer or not
depends on your other options but ivory seems like a safe bet for 60 yards and a score at a minimum. marshall i think has a good chance to either score or get 80+ yards. so worth starting depending on other options
my fears going into this game are: -we will get to luck, collapse the pocket, but he will minimize the damage scrambling and runnign for yards or making plays despite the pass rush -we will keep them in chec for 80% of the game but they will amke 2-3 big plays which result in them getting points while not doiing much overall i can see us being in the backfield all day, shutting their run down, keeping luck in check, but still giving up 24 points cause they hit a few big ones and luck scrabmles out of it when we do get pressure. we need to not just dominate their oline and get pressure, we need to put luck on the turf and force bad throws.
25% of his games have been against the Jags and Titans the last 3 years. Yes he throws TDs. He also throws the ball 45 times a game and doesn't compete a very good amount of those passes. I think he's overrated. And I'll predict this is the season you start hearing more and more of that. Not saying I wouldn't take him in a heartbeat over what we have but he's overrated
The bolded is the biggest part. If we get to him, great. But we must be able to bring him down. I just have visions of how we got to Big Ben and could never bring him down.
we beat a bad browns team pretty bad. people are overreacting to that colts lost to a great bills defense on the road. people are overracting to that as well we can win. it wont be easy. no hilton really evens the playing field. they still have an elite qb and we still have an average one. people keep pointing out their flaws, but they had those same flaws and still won 11 games and got within 1 win of the superbowl. if we turn it over, they will destroy us. flat out. if we dont we have a good chance to win. if we force turnovers i really like our chances. but they are still the better team and at home.
