Box Cutters Anyone? 9/14/2015 8:16 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF EXCLUSIVE The co-founder of Devo and his bride hung their faces off a Twin Towers cake to celebrate their marriage with the most bizarre, and possibly offensive, wedding reception ... EVER. Jerry Casale -- Devo's singer and bassist -- married Krista Napp on Friday at Michael's Restaurant in Santa Monica. Of course, Friday marked the 14th anniversary of the September 11th attacks ... a fact the bride and groom made sure their guests would never forget. Fact 1: Their cake was the World Trade Center, with their images on top of each tower. Fact 2: Guests got real box cutters as party favors. Fact 3: Their table setting cards had an image of a "Gerald & Krista" engraved box cutter. If it seems outrageous and offensive to make the murder of 2,977 people the centerpiece of your wedding -- we're told Jerry and Krista's friends weren't the least bit fazed because they both have a dark and strange sense of humor. As one guest put it ... Jerry has "real heart as an artist, and is a super sweet guy." Read more: http://www.tmz.com/2015/09/14/devo-co-founder-throws-9-11-themed-wedding-jerry-casale/#ixzz3lpBEjCrJ
What sadistic people...I am looking my wedding cake this weekend, how can a bakery even be okay with this bullshit. I think the box cutter gift idea is the dumbest fucking thing I've read today.
Geebuz. I thought the Twin Towers were the worst part of that photo--thanks for pointing out those pancakes. _
If it were lighthearted and / or remotely humerus it would be different, but this isn't funny in the least. I guess you can't expect much more from the folks that brought you all of those intellectual masterpieces like "Whip It".
I remember only a few years after, my gf at the time and her family using the the term "like 911 in there" to describe a messy room or something like that. I found it really offensive. Some ppl just don't get it.
So, they're saying they are prepared for their marriage to crash and burn and be a never ending source of pain and misery? I'm okay with that.
