Good Guy awards thus far go to Boston College for scheduling Howard U. and pummeling them 76-0, while Ole Miss opened their season with a hard-fought 76-3 win over the UTM Skyhawks (then followed that up by dropping 71 points on Fresno State on Saturday). Honorable Mention: Duke's 55-0 nailbitter over North Carolina Central. Like in boxing, there should be some non-sanctioning of these hopelessly mismatched games. And to hell with the excuse that the little guys do it for the program bucks - these teams are physically mismatched and someone should put a halt to these no-purpose, record padding routs on behalf of player safety. This is usually true though I do like when an FBS team takes an FCS team lightly and gets their ass handed to them. 2013 USF opened at home against McNeese St and got beat down 53-21. NutHugger fan's Nebraska team just narrowly avoided losing to that same McNeese St team in last years opener. If not for a couple of missed tackles on Ameer Abdullah with 20 seconds left they might have started out the season losing to an FCS team. That opening week of 2013 was great, 8 FCS teams beat FBS teams.
I agree, on the non-sanctioning but Conferences need to start mandating that teams are not allowed to schedule Div I-AA opponents. Its a joke. I think I heard that the SEC is mandating that in the future but I'm not sure if that true. these matchups are bogus. and Notre Dame has been impressive- leave it to the cornhusker to not know anything about college football
