Any hunters on the board? I figured we have a fishing thread, why not a hunting thread - good place to share stories, photos, recipes, tips and ask questions. I've been hunting since I was 16 and have been talking about getting into bow hunting for years. Finally broke down early this summer and got one. Took the course, bought all the gear, tree stand and that jazz and been practicing all summer. I've got trail cams setup all over the property I'm hunting now too. Really looking forward to opening day.
Probably just you and me on this board. lol I was going to post a thread about shooters on the board, but figured there wouldn't be many considering the left leanings of most of the forum members.
When I was buying my bow the shop had bow fishing equipment for sale. I started looking at it and quickly pulled myself away since I was already spending a bunch of cash. I always thought that looked like fun. Maybe one day when I have more time I'll get into that. Seems like it could be a blast.
If they have 3-d courses in your area, they are a lot of fun, better than just shooting the same target over and over.
It's hard to find a place to safely stash a rifle in a townhouse, away from kids and wife. So... It's only target shooting for me handgun I can hide
WAIT A MINUTE!!!! Carp?? My mother has been drilling me a new one that she misses carp. Didn't have it for 15 years, blah, blah... Any places in/around NJ I can fish it?
Those work well for keeping kids out. Not great for security against theft, but better than nothing. I have mine hidden and scattered throughout the house. Everyone in the house is trained in thier use and the go, no go situations of use.
Yea - it sounded like his main concern was keeping kids/wife out. I've got a big boy bolted to the floor for my shit.
I got safes for the handguns, one for gun, another for ammo, that's not a problem. The problem was to hide it. My wife is not crazy about guns so it can't be just that kids can't open it. It's gotta be they don't even suspect there are guns in the house.
Good for you. The sooner you can teach them about safe handling of firearms, the better. Kids are most curious about the things we try to keep away from them, once they are introduced to them, it's not as interesting... at least that's how it worked with my son and the lawn mower. Anyone do any reloading? I'm in the process of rearranging my reloading benches. Along with my archery bench. Sorry to hijack your thread.
Careful what you kill. Modern "we are too damn comfortable so we have to contrive travesty" society has a tendency to portray wild animals as lovable Disney creations.
Ignorant people who don't understand how responsible hunting contributes to wildlife conservation are not worth listening to.
I hunt. Never been bow hunting before but I do know folks who do do it though. Waterfowl hunting is my overall favorite, with whitetail deer my second favorite.
