Of course it is, until we read about some other team trading 2/3 good/great players for Watt so the Texans could get out from under his contract and we all say "That could have been us!!! We had Mo, Couples, Mouldin just sitting there!!!" But trades like this NEVER happen. Until they do happen.

Mo's agent needs to shut his mouth. Didn't they agree to not go public with this and negotiate in private? Why throw all this crap out there on gameday when we open our season? Between this and Kerley being a distraction and talking about himself and how he's not wanted or appreciated here I don't know what's more annoying. These guys should move on and leave the business part out of it, it just hurts the team when they make it about them.

I can't really tell what's going on here. Are you justifying your idea to trade for JJ Watt right now? Great idea, in the same way trading for Andrew Luck is a great idea.

Vick was a shit-tier QB regardless. We would have been better off with Simms as the #2 last year and that's saying something.

Harvin was a good no risk transaction? We had a 0% chance of making the playoffs when we traded for him. As a result of a trade for a no-worth player, we lost $6.5m in cap space and a sixth round draft pick. Another $6.5m this year could have been huge.

I like what you did there and agree that was a desperation move when we were already out of contention. We still have a bunch of dead cap space this year which can be attributed to poor moves as well, I just took a small sample but most are Idzik's.

    Chris Johnson $1.5 million
    Stephen Hill $ 466,000
    Jalen Sanders $ 361,000
    Antwan Barnes $ 300,000
    Mike Goodson $ 279,000
    Jeramiah George $ 143,000
    Shaq Evans $ 112,000
    Tajh Boyd $ 59,000

There's more but most of these move's hurt us this year.

Interesting enough, those mistakes only equal half the Harvin mistake (financially). Plus half of those were draft picks so they were minimal. Johnson was a waste as anyone could tell he was old and washed up. Everyone knew Goodson was a risk.

The Tajh Boyd one still gets me as he didn't even make it out of training camp last year. Thanks Rex.

It was in October and the guy wasn't available earlier. The fans screamed about not spending money and when he had a chance to make a deal for a potential impact player he did. This was for not only 2014 but potentially the future. So I don't get the criticism on signing Harvin. Idzik could do no right with some fans and guys like Mehta and Cimini.

So what if we botch it? That's why we drafted Williams.

Mo's best strategy is to have a great season. If he does he'll get paid by someone.

imagine the Jets keeping 1 of Wilkerson, Sheldon and Williams, that 1 being Williams.

Let 2 all pro defensive lineman go, I would be pissed the fuck off.

He already knew he was going to get fired because he botched the rebuild so badly. Then Harvin was going to want $10m+ a year after that which he doesn't deserve. So it was a knee jerk reaction to try to save his job but it wasn't worth it.

You can't rebuild without topnotch college scouting and pro personnel departments. Idzik probably knew he was in trouble from the day he took the job. He didn't get a chance to put his guys in those areas beyond a few token hires. He was dependent on existing personnel infrastructure which had gotten the Jets into the trouble they were in at the time he got hired.

Hitting a good player on your 1st pick half the time isn't enough to keep a team going, even if the player is really good. You have to get 3 solid players out of each draft to keep up with normal attrition in a business where your players are lucky to play 5 or 6 years even when they're good.

He's worth that deal. Idzik wasn't going to give him 10 mil per. He was there on a trial basis and eventually Mac decided to sign Marshall and cut Harvin. Both guys are extremely talented but questionable off the field. The Bears couldn't wait to get rid of Marshall who created problems in the locker room. So did Harvin in Seattle.
