10k is nothing, it's the right thing to do IMO - we should probably take more. The only problem I have with taking in refugees is we give them way too much government support. I understand helping them out to get on their feet but the support is for much, much longer than that and they're given benefits that normal citizens would never be given.

As for chipping them, this is America isn't it?

Since when does a mass migration of people fleeing a war torn country consist of 72% males? Is it policy to leave the woman and children in the war?

How about many of those fleeing are males who were drawn in by the prospects offered by the war and are now fleeing when the realities have become clear?

All those teenagers being indoctrinated to go fight and then just trying to get the hell out by any means necessary when they've seen the carnage and realize they're not immortal any more?

Yet they only flee to countries with well funded, established, easy access social welfare systems...

    And they know this intrinsically..

    Curious..

People whose thinking is rooted in the 7th century, are infiltrating a world in the 21st century (that they hate) in order to destroy it, because the 21st century elites are blinded by their 19th century god.

Well funded, established, easy access social welfare systems are a good thing. Fleeing to countries that let the poor starve and die of childhood diseases and be illiterate would be kind of stupid, no?

I mean, seriously, you are going to flee your hellish war torn country. Are you going to Guatemala or Germany?

Unfortunately,i think this is true. I have seen and heard some very disturbing things out of Europe...they do not sound like 'refugees" to me. Besides...we have all witnessed the US and NATO go full scale over much less, were to believe that they would rather have countries infiltrated than band together and make Syria liveable?

Well, here is my take on what I suspect would be the answer to this:

I think many European countries are struggling with low birth rates and with having been supplanted by the USA a and other nations. Immigration was/is a potential way to deal with this. You bring in a few million people to make up for population loss, they take the worst jobs usually, and you assimilate them into your culture. In theory this helps to build up the state's economy as well as its demographic capacity. The problem is that if the immigrants aren't assimilated your have a problem. I believe Europeans still hope to assimilate the people they have brought into their countries, but this is becoming a fool's errand in some cases. I think the way they have gone about this is all wrong anyway, so they virtually assured themselves failure.

As for some sort of planetary destruction of Christianity, I think that's overblown. Christina is still the largess religion in the world by a large margin and that is with a LOT of population loss within its old areas of support. Within a few decades Islam will experience a similar situation I suspect and the great rising tide of Islam will ebb, but until then it isn't clear what will happen.

BTW, almost all of this population growth in Muslim countries has come from VERY high and unsustainable birth rates. That is over now. In just the last five years many Muslim nations have dropped to European levels of fertility no my actually drop further. The irony here being that Muslim nations will also face an aging population bubble with a slowing economy, but with only a fraction the resources of many developed nations in the west. Now THAT will be nasty.

True, this is a solid point. But if my country is a war torn hellhole I will take whatever place will take me where the bombs aren't dropping. Starting to get choosy about which one offers a better package really starts to make one wonder how desperate they are. After all, does a starving person look at food and say, "okay, you got something better?" or do they just eat?

And here lies the problem... they do not assimilate. Just go to Bay Ridge here in Brooklyn - parts of that neighborhood look like some Middle Eastern town. All women wear at least a hijab (some with burqas) and clothing that you usually see on TV when they show Middle East. Males are mostly dressed like in their home countries as well, some do wear jeans though. It's like a different world out there.

I was enjoying reading this intelligent thread until I get to your comment out of the blue. What the fuck does that have to do with the discussion? Do you think it contributes anything at all? Is it supposed to be funny? You seem to love making sweeping statements like that. I'm sure you'd call me a liberal but I own guns, have no problem with hunters and believe in a balanced budget. I also believe in reasonable gun regulations and am against the death penalty. Do I fit your moronic generalization?

Will do. I just dislike people who look to start arguments that have nothing to do with the discussion.
