I disagree. This is Fitz's job to lose now. I highly doubt Geno will start unless we are under .500, if we are over .500 or even with Fitz it makes no sense to pull him against weaker teams when we just won harder ones. The regular season isn't about evaluating talent, it's about winning games.

If Geno ends up starting this season we may be down for the count. (Sorry.... I had to slip that one in there.)

Have to disagree. If we are 3-1 and Fitz isn't making a lot of stupid mistakes and/or bad plays he will stay the QB. If the Jets start losing or he shits the bed or gets injured, that's when we'll see Geno. Nothing Bowles has said suggests that Fitz has to be a world beater to keep the job, just decent.

Even if we're 2-2, as long as Fitz isn't playing awful he'll be in there week 5 and thereafter.

We're going to be underdogs in all three games following the Browns.

If we win one of those games it'll be a huge positive.

Nobody on this staff gives a shit about "finding out what we have in Geno".

He's not a high first round pick that warrants that consideration.

    This staff wants to win.

Bruh... this is the post of the day. Thank you!!!!!!!!! This is Geno's team until Bryce is ready to roll. Fitz is just Geno's back up that fell into a situation that worked in his favor.. i believe soon as Geno is 100% and back up to speed with the offense he'll be starting. Devin Smith is healthy but Bowles wants him up to speed with the offense before throwing him out there, he'll most likely do the same with Geno. I say bye week or Redskins game @ Metlife

Best Case Scenario: Ryan Fitzpatrick is injured in the first qtr of the Wild Card round and Geno has to come in to Manage the game

Worst Case Scenario:Fitzpatrick is injured during week 4 and we are stuck with Geno and his peice of shit jaw for 12 games losing 10 of them

Fitzpatrick wins first four - then gets injured.

GeNO takes over then loses the next 12.

Are you saying this is the worst case?

I think this is THE best case. Here are my reasons:

    1. Geno fanboys will have to learn to shut the fuck up in a hurry.
    2. Jets will be primed to get a pretty good pick. Offensive line, for crying out loud.
    3. Bowles and Macc won't get a hit for the shitstorm GeNO brings. It's Idzik's shitstorm if anything.

Lord knows I'm no Geno fan...but he does have the physical tools to be an above average qb.

There's been plenty of guys that looked like shit their first few years in the league...and they haven't put up games like Geno has in his first two.

Getting socked up by a team mate...that does set him apart.

What, in your opinion, can't be corrected?

I can't really understand the post you responded to. We know what we have in Geno. A guy who can't handle the blitz and feels it at all times. He has horrible field and situational awareness. I wanted Fitz to start from the beginning because we at least know what we will have out of him consistently.

He reminds me of Jeff Garcia at the end of his career to an extent. Garcia was a much better player than Fitz early on in his career but towards the tail end of his career he assumed the role of making smart decisions and not making the drive killer. Fitz seemed to learn the to protect the ball and rely on his defense and running game last year with Houston and had them as playoff contenders simply because he knew not only what he needed to do but what he needed to NOT do.

It all comes down to turnovers for me. With the way the rest of this roster is built you have to be perfectly okay with 17 for 28, 205 yards and no turnovers.

In my opinion we'd have to be 1-3 or 0-4 for Geno to play. I don't think that will happen so I really think we saw the last of Geno Smith.

The pocket awareness really can't be corrected. He's too programmed to feel the pressure of the rush whether it's there or not. There were plenty of times in his first two years that were prime examples of this. I truly don't think it can be taught or learned. It's what makes or breaks a quarterback in my opinion.

    Can't disagree with that.

He's horrible in that respect...but I'm not convinced that he can't improve with game reps, better protection, better receivers and smart play calls.

But who knows...maybe he is what he is.

It will be hard to top the Redskins this year. If this scenario happens, that pick better be a QB.

All of those things help. The problem is that the protection in particular hasn't really been horrible. It hasn't been 5 All-Pro's protecting him but we don't have the 2002 Texans line protecting him either. He doesn't have a good concept of how to navigate the pocket. If the tackle funnels the defense ends outside hey guess what you have to step up before you retreat and try to get around them.

I hope not. If he does it's because Fitz is struggling and we probably don't make the playoffs. In which case I'd rather see Bryce out there in week 14+.

I voted no because I do not know if the CFL Championship game for the Gray Cup is considered meaningful here in the USA.

    1. I agree that it will be hard to top the Foreskins. That's always an achievement.

    2. That said, I am totally against picking a QB in round 1. With the prevalence of spread offense in college ranks, it would make sense to pick a QB in mid tier, so he can sit and learn for a few years. Which means his contribution in year 1 will be nil. And zero production is about the last thing I would like from my first round pick in any circumstances. If Jets do pick a QB in round 1, that kid had better be Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck kind of good prospect. If not - don't even bother.
