Dareus has made 2 Pro Bowls, he's coming off a career year. Mo hasn't made any Pro Bowls, he's had a down year and he plays a different position. Nothing to see here.
Wilks people are surely looking in the 100 mil range, and I'm sure Maccagnan wants to go lower in the Cam Jodan range. Either way, when the deal gets done this board will say "I like Mo, he's a good player but we overpaid and we'll be in cap hell."
They have no basis to be shooting for Dareus' type numbers. He's not getting that type of money. If he wants to stick to his guns he'll be playing on a 1 year deal for us the next 2 years, we have no reason to give in, he has no leverage.
Still think Mo could be a potential hometown discount. I know vast majority of fans disagree, but think the kid likes being close to home and just wants fair compensation; which he deserves.
Leonard Williams can be the same player in 1-2 years. Sheldon already is better (and dumber) or at the very least is playing at a higher level currently. Mo is not even the best DE on this team right now, he needs to get a reality check. He has the ability to be the 2nd best DE in football behind Watt, but he just hasn't proven it lately. He was OK last year, definitely not great. He was banged up and disappeared at times. He just doesn't deserve anything close to what Dareus is making, sorry. I love the guy, I hope he retires a Jet. Heck, let him play out his contract. If he puts up 15+ sacks this year I'd mayb consider paying him that type of money if I'm Macc. But based on last year? No. Way. And he wasn't all that amazing his first two years either. So he had one great year and 3 so so years. Either he settles for ~12-13 mil. per year or he plays out his contract, puts up an All Pro year and then maybe he'll get the 15+ mil. he's looking for next year from us. But right now he doesn't deserve that money.
Mo is greedy. I am sure the Jets have offered him a good deal that works for him and the team. He wants more though. Can't blame him. He is on the same team as Revis right now. I miss the days when players thought about the team instead of themselves.
