And this is just my personal opinion but I'd hope we, as fans, don't allow the Harvey situation to become toxic. The dude is going to be a rock for us for the next 3 years, let's not run him out of town because of this BS--which is what it is IMHO. He's going to pitch. And he's going to win us some playoff games. _
Harvey is just lucky last night wasnt played in NY. That could've been a bad scene. Right now I hope the team is looking to sit him the rest of the year. Maybe let him make 1 more start a week before the playoffs start depending on where were as sort of a tuneup start. Harvey's fate will all depend on his postseason status though. If it goes out there and pitches the fanbase will forgive him very quickly..if he goes on that 60 pitch count or doesnt pitch at all , I cant see how he is in a Mets uniform next season. He would be public enemy #1. Worse than it is now. We might not be able to get equal value back for him. But we could get a pretty solid deal. The fact that he's under team control for cheap makes his value even higher too. I read a Boston Globe article that mentioned Boegerts and Mookie Betts. I think that would be a nice start.
Super awesome, unfortunately I don't think the Mets will sign him, he will be testing the FA market and looking to get a monster contract, especially if he helps the mets win the division and make a deep run in the playoffs. I would love to keep him
It would be a PR disaster if the Mets don't sign him. If the Wilpons are trying to prove they're worthy owners of a large market team, they're gonna have to spend like one and that means signing Cespedes. I have a feeling Cespedes would take less money to stay in NY. With the large Dominican population here and overall Latino population, Cespedes could easily become a superstar and make a TON of cash off the field with endorsements alone. Factor in he's transformed the lineup and the Wilpons would be inviting a full fledged fan revolt that would flush all the good PR the team has developed with the arrival of the Big 3.
What does he want anyways, 150. I'd offer him 100 for five seasons. He's made his mark here though and to me he's the straw that has stirred the drink.
