I have high hopes but It would mean more if Bruce Arians said it, not a guy that hated the Jets his whole career
Well, he was one of the best defenders of his era. He played for Bowles. He played for the Jets. Plus he's retired now, he's not biased towards a team, player or coach. Doesn't hurt to hear what it was like for him to play under Bowles.
Great article. I have one concern, though. From what I understand, Bowles did not call defensive plays during the pre-season. I completely trust his ability to call plays in the regular season but I'm not quite sure about our inexperienced DC. Then again, maybe not calling plays is how a head coach is supposed to function and I've just been lead astray by Rex for the past 6 years.
That's better than Rex already....nice to see a coach with some discipline instead of the Rex clown show
I do. Even if he was a Dolphin and someone I never wanted on the Jets, he was a very good to great player in the NFL and he knows the game. I may not like him, but I respect his opinion.
Exactly! I was just responding to your question about "who cares about his opinion?" even if it was just hypothetical. LOL
As I said, I didn't like Taylor and never wanted him on the Jets, but I respected him. Like flajetfan said, I'm sure that Taylor didn't hate the Jets while playing for them, and he must not have hated them too badly or he never would have signed with them. I think "hate" is probably too strong a word. It's just the natural competitive spirit, the rivalry thing for most players. There are some like Brady or Marino, where the hatred for the Jets may be genuine, but I don't think it is for most players, but I could be wrong.
I know, I couldn't give to fucks what Taylor says and neither should anybody else, we will all know what type of coach we have in Bowles as the regular season progresses.
