He's a one dimensional O-lineman. He can run block but can't pass block. He's not the kind of guy any Qb would ever take out to dinner.

11-5 playoff run 'well', or 8-8 typical Fitz 'well'.
There was a lot of Geno Smith crow eating early in camp when he looked like he turned the corner.

If he played like he did against the Giants, barring injury Geno is not seeing the field.

wtf, smith never made it on the field in even a preseason game and all of a sudden he's peyton manning? i guess it must have been those great throws he made while wearing the red jersey knowing he couldn't be touched, right?

It's always a steep transition for rookie WR into the NFL. Routs have to be crisp, timing tighter, and setting up the DB is harder. I don't expect an awful lot from Devin this year; that injury killed his development in camp. But he does have the one thing besides size you can't teach; speed! I really hope come week 4-5 he starts to get significant snaps. Very excited about his future in green and white!

Interesting guy. Not sure whose spot he'd take. Bowen? Douzable? Dex? Reilly?

Also posted this in the "Did we get Fauria Thread"

Per Cimini "The Jets brought in seven players for tryouts on Tuesday, including former Giants S Stevie Brown. This came two days after they acquired S Ronald Martin on waivers. Evidently, they're still looking at their depth. Other tryouts: DE Mike Catapano, TE Nick Kasa, TE Brian Leonhardt, G Michael Liedtke, DB Ryan Murphy and G Vinston Painter."

Nick Kasa was waived in May - A former defensive end, Kasa was converted to tight end late in his college career. He has (had) 4.71 wheels to go along with his 6-foot-6, 265-pound frame, but caught only one pass in 16 games as a rookie. He'll have to prove he's healthy before getting a second chance elsewhere. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/nick-kasa?id=2540233

Brian Leonhardt - A 2013 Raiders UDFA 6-5, 255 pounds, he had his best season as a junior when he led the team in receptions (35) and receiving yards (483). He was also a supreme blocker in both the run and the pass helping to guide the second best rushing attack (No. 13 nationally) and held to edge to make the Beavers 6th in the nation in sacks allowed (.91 sacks allowed per game). That season earned him a All-America honors.

Michael Liedtke - A Dolphins UDFA in 2014 who went to a small school and started for 3 years as an OT - at best looking at a PS role

Ryan Murphy - Seahawks 7th round pick this year who got cut as they trimmed to 53 - Murphy pundits said fits head coach Pete Carroll's idea of a good defensive back. He is a rangy 6'3", 214-pound pass defender who can match up physically with most opposing receivers. He also has the kind of ball skills to make a difference, even if he only plays on a situational basis.

Vinston Painter - He was signed by the Brown's off the Broncos' practice squad. The No. 173 pick of the 2013 draft, Painter has yet to make a regular-season appearance. He's just a depth signing, one the Browns could be hoping to eventually store on their own practice squad.

Stevie Brown - His reunion with the Giants lasted one week. Cut by two different safety-needy teams right before the start of the season, Brown's NFL future does not look bright. S Craig Dahl was signed in a corresponding move.

TE Brian Leonhardt started a few games for the Raiders last year, he's in his 2nd year now so he's got upside and potential. Wouldn't mind adding him. Stevie Brown looked like a really good safety years ago for that one year before injuries I guess caught up to him. The rest I've never heard of.

I don't think that's true. The jets need to see what they have in Geno this year when he finally has a decent supporting cast around him and a good OC. Barring Fitz playing top 5 QB i think they have to start Geno after the Bye week to see what they have. By all accounts he was outplaying Fitz in training camp.

If Fitz plays well in the 1st 4 games he'll continue to start, it's not like Joe Montana is coming back from a broken jaw
