Damn str8! Geno's gonna be back at some point and we are gonna need some way of getting him off the field. I think IKE has ready shown he has a "special talent" in that regard. For that reason alone: sign that beast!
Austin Davis cut by the Rams would be a nice signing for us over Flynn and Johnson. The kid is young and showed flashes at times in his starts for the Rams. I'd rather take a shot at a kid like this as opposed to career backups in both those other guys. Pascoe & Rosario cut by the Bears might be worth a look at TE
That makes me feel good. I remember being upset when we lost him, along with the other half the roster we lost by mid season last year. Jalen Saunders was already cut too lol edit: I see Brandon Dixon was cut too. So that's nice.
Funny thing is George and Idzik were actually reunited in Jacksonville. Both fired from their original place. And now George gets canned again after Idzik joined the Jaguars. This man is like a black cloud, a plague. Wherever he goes he brings misery, drought and poverty.
Thankfully for Bortles and the rest Idzik didn't hand pick them and he really is just there to make sure there is enough coffee during meetings. So he can't really interfere in terms of personal decisions and none of the Jaguars have been picked by him. I think you're good with Bortles & Robinson. His cryptonite doesn't work on those guys.
Guys cut yesterday I wouldn't mind going after, bolder being my preferences: WR Jeremy Ross (Lions) TE Joseph Fauria (Lions) TE Dante Rosario (Bears) WR Austin Pettis (Chargers) WR Vincent Brown (Colts) WR Duron Carter (Colts) LB Najee Goode (Eagles) FB Henry Hynoski (Giants) LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar (Rams) QB Austin Davis (Rams) WR Jared Abbrederis (Packers) TE Tony Moeaki (Falcons)
Economics. They paid 4 or 5 people big money and the cap says that's your wad to blow. Chancellor is 27 years old right now. This is the year or two that he can still get a big deal if he manages to force a renegotiation of his deal. The Steelers are going through the same thing with Antonio Brown, but the Steelers locker room won't let you hold out with a big deal already in place. Too many guys are carrying the lunch pail, or were until recently. The moral of the story is that a win-win lockup of a early prime player before he hits free agency is only win-win as long as the salary scale doesn't shift dramatically during the period of the deal. A team isn't likely to get the benefit of the deal 3 years down the road when the player is in his prime if the sudden splurge in salaries makes them pay a bunch of other guys big salaries. The new CBA is a disaster. It looks like a win for the owners but it has destabilized the labor market in the NFL and given the entire enterprise a series of shocks to the system. They need to find a way in the next one to give veteran players more stability. Keeping rookie compensation in line was a good move. Handing all the cash from the savings to the elite superstars and owners was not.
Kam is an idiot. Seattle is getting tired of his act. If Kam gets traded to the Giants, he wont have the same impact with that shitty Giants secondary.
A good strong safety is really valuable on a defense that has the need for one. You're right about him probably having less impact on team that doesn't have a great CB and FS though. Everybody in Seattle's secondary makes everybody else better because they all do their jobs so well.
Also, Seattle has prob one of the best inside linebackers in the league in Bobby Wagner. Like you said, Kam's job is much more easier in SEA. He'll have his work cut out for him in NY. I just don't understand why Kam just doesn't finish this year and go for the extension next year. He's so impatient ...
WAIT - Where are all those posters who claimed cutting IK was a disaster and Rex was getting the equivalent of another second rounders.
If we're going to bring in another WR it should be Owusu. Outside of that maybe Duron Carter, but he'll probably again go to another team with a good QB situation. Not realizing that he could probably be a #1 on a team like Cleveland. But what else would you expect from a guy who is getting advice from a moron like Cris Carter.
Today will be interesting to see who and if we're going to be awarded some of the guys waived yesterday. The Bucs picked up Jeremiah George by the way. The Giants picked up DT Louis Nix (we passed on him, for anybody that thinks Macc is all about bringing his former players in here). A lot of good players are out there. Hopefully we can land at least one decent TE and maybe an edge rusher, and a backup tackle.
Interesting. Would be a shame if Miles loses his job to him. He was so excited to make the team yesterday and he deserves his spot here unless you're gonna bring in Chancellor or somebody. But he shouldn't be losing his spot to this dude. Strengths Physical, box-safety linebacker. Plays through the whistle and relishes contact. Played as an additional linebacker against physical, run-based teams in Wisconsin and Arkansas. Disengages quickly in run support and will take on blockers to keep contain when called on. Can cover tight ends and shows adequate ball skills. Reacts quickly to throws in his area. Emotional leader on the field. Weaknesses Average athlete with average play speed. Has coverage limitations. Struggles when asked to match up with speed in space. He's a tick slow to get through his route recognition at times. Shows some reckless traits in open field as a tackler. Steams downhill at suspect angles. Short-area change of direction issues limit him as a tackler against running backs with shake. Draft Projection Priority free agent Bottom Line Loves football and brings physicality and competitiveness to each snap. Limited in coverage and as a functional athlete. His best bet is to make it as a situational sub and core special-teamer.
