Eh no sense in looking back. This recent draft seems like it made up a lot for the other ones. We just need to make sure we do better at drafts in the future. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
To be fair, I thought Odell was boom or bust too - nothing in college really showed he would become the player he is now. We shall see in due time if he keeps this level of productivity up. Bridgewater, the tape though - everything told me he would be great. I liked Jarvis Landry more ... he's going to be a solid option for your Fins. Round 2, and to think he almost dropped to round 2 as well. I bet teams like the Texans, Browns and Jets especially are kicking themselves for not getting Bridgewater. If I were a Texans fan, I would be pissed off a lot - missed out on K. Mack and Bridgewater for Clowney who can barely get on the field.
Agree with the above, but man could he block. Give him credit for that, as he was not completely useless like Kyle Wilson.
*walks into thread. Sees the same Teddy fangirl club still talking about me. Laughs. Walks back out. See you guys when the season starts.*
We are never going to draft a franchise QB unless we go 1-15 and that won't happen with this defense, to get one anyother way would mean at least half the GMs in football have no idea what they're doing and with all the people and all the technology in use today that just isn't going to happen. We couldn't even get one of the top 2 qbs in this years draft after going 4-12.
Same will prob happen again because of Petty. That's not true, we had 2 chances in 2014 to draft one w/ an 8-8 record
You don't get franchise QB's in the top 5 only. Look at Bridgewater, Derek Carr, Flacco, Russell Wilson, Glennon, Dalton, Kaepernick...those were all like 2nd-3rd round picks. You just have to pick the right guy. Everybody knew Manuel was garbage. I think most people also knew Bridgewater was a great pick. Nobody was excited about the Geno pick. You kind of know before you even make the pick whether the guy is going to work out or not. I'm happy with how Petty's done so far, I want him to get the shot next year. He's got all the tools.
Who, Bridgewater and Manziel? I don't think either will end up being a franchise qb..I'm sure Manziel won't but Bridgewater has to put a few more good years on the board before I'm sold on him..of course you may mean two totally other qbs so I should let you answer.
Bridgewater and Carr. Both are already franchise QBs whose arrows are trending upwards in a big way. Don't confuse the term franchise QBs w/ elite QBs. Bridgewater and Carr in their rookie years prob better than any Jets QB we've had since Chad Pennington. Both QBs have full support of the FO and locker room. Manziel is and will always be trash. you don't need to see a QB play for 3+ seasons to know that player is the franchise QB.
Oh yeah, Carr..I like Carr too. My only definition of a franchise QB is one who starts for the same team most of their career. Both the guys you mention may be that and both may be gone after their rookie deals, we will see...in the NFL these days though there is no forgiveness, have a couple bad years and you are gone.
That's fair, everyone has a different definition of the franchise QB. I think Teddy's going to be great based on his ability to see the field before and after the snap. It's a special talent you don't see much in young QBs
