Revis does not take away the right side of the field. He takes away 1 player. That's it.

Comparing Revis to Watt is pretty laughable.

But you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

So...the OC that has Megatron as his go to guy..doesn't change his game plan?

    Really?

Revis takes away the RIGHT SIDE of the field. (you know where most QB's are looking?)

Ummm Revis makes big plays before he steps on the field.

(P.S. Revis is light years faster than Watt.)

Comparing Revis to Watt is laughable. On that point you're correct. It's your perspective that's entirely incorrect.

    Revis is the better player..

But hey...don't take my word for it.

What do the GMs checkbooks say..

    Mevi$
    Watt
In the next 3 years. Revis will earn 7 million more dollars than the younger Watt.

But hey... you know what you're saying.

What a ridiculous statement... ya, Watt is a very good player but diminishing what Revis does makes your statement look like ya drank the h8erade

Are you seriously going with that argument?

Because Revis raped the Jets for that insane contract you think that makes him a better player than JJ Watt?

If you asked all 32 GM's who they would rather have; Revis or Watt, all 32 would take Watt, including Mike Mc.

And they wouldn't even have to think about it.

If Revis were a Patriot still, I doubt you would be saying this outlandish shit. Watt is the better player, and its not even close IMO.

JJ Watt plays a position where he's a force multiplier on the field. Revis plays on the outskirts. No possible way any CB is more valuable.

I don't think the argument is about value. The question is, is revis a better cb than watt is a dl? Tough call. Can't go wrong with either answer

The impact of Watt's position makes it seem like he is the better player but they are both once in a decade talents at their position and it's tough to weigh which one could be more dominant. To say it's "not even close" is incorrect. It's as close as it gets.

I'm sure PatsFanTX aka AugustWest will bring up some publication or the NFLN Top 100 as proof, but those rankings are typically fallacious and one dimensional.

But if a DL is more important than a CB, then it's irrelevant who is better at their respective position.

An average QB is worth so much more than the greatest long snapper in history--for illustrative purposes.

I think it's difficult to say either is better at their respective positions of DL or CB--clearly they are both great and possibly tops--but because DL creates so many more issues, Watt is, on balance, the better player.

And neither of them will win shit until the play on a team with a good quarterback.

I always believe the guy closest to the football could have the larger impact on the field. Watt has 20 sack seasons, scored some TDs [offense and defense], and has a large # of pass deflections at the LOS. I think his impact is greater on the field. We saw what happened when you spread the field out and completely ignore Revis all together. That result was the 2009 AFCCG when Manning torched our secondary w/out throwing towards Revis.

No doubt both are HOF players. As hard as it is, you can try and game-plan around Revis, but to me there's no way to game-plan around JJ Watt due to his versatility. He can line-up anywhere on that defensive line and if he sees a weak spot, he can completely change the game and exploit it.

For the sake of a player's positional impact on wins and losses, this is correct. But if the discussion is which player is better at his respective position (which I believe the debate in this thread is discussing), then you have to kind of discount positional impact a bit.

Otherwise you can argue a very good defensive lineman is better than a HOF cornerback, which I've seen people do before using stats.

Yeah I didn't think that was the argument. I thought it was who was the better defensive player and for that reason I have a hard time taking impact out of the equation.

I think they are both the best players at their position but I'd have a hard time saying Revis was the better defensive player over Watt solely because of the impact their positions carry.

    But it's close either way.

OK, yeah I see what you mean here in terms of who is better at their respective position - that's a tough one indeed. I don't see JJ Watt beating the best offensive lineman on a consistent basis [He would just line up against the weakest link of that offensive line], but we've seen Revis shutdown the best receivers from Moss, to T.O. on several occasions. He did it all by himself w/ virtually no help. I think that would make Revis the better player at their respective positions.

Revis def the best cover corner I have ever seen play, D. Sanders, the only guy you can really compare - really had trouble going up against Michael Irvin. Plus Deion never tackled.

JJ Watt, you compare him to the all time greats in Joe Greene and Reggie White - those 2 could beat anyone on the field on any given down.

    Valid point Abyz.
