Sad story, and shame on those parents for leaving a loaded weapon somewhere a kid could get it. Did you know kids are far more likely to drown in a swimming pool than be involved in a gun accident? http://jacksonandwilson.com/which-is-more-dangerous-a-gun-or-a-swimming-pool/
Your conclusion is wrong. Children interacting with pools are much safer than children interacting with guns. It is the number of deaths per user that is important not the number of pools or guns. All those careless "good guys" cause an awful lot of misery.
21 month old kids aren't supposed to be interacting with loaded guns. this was an accident just like the accidental drownings that happen much more frequently. these good guys with pools cause an awful lot of misery.
Great answer. I guess anyone who abhors unnecessary violence and careless deaths from firearms needs to grow up. You really make a persuasive argument. Not. Where are today's despots to account for today's killing of innocents around here?
violence, and the threat of violence are always necessary. That's what staves off the wolves. Even before Judas Maccabeus...
This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. And straight from the NRA playbook. And kids die because of bee stings and walking across the street. The NRA has vigilantly opposed CAP (Child Access Prevention) laws that would punish adults who leave loaded guns in close proximity to children. Here is one article about it among many from Mother Jones, a lefty mag http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/12/children-killed-guns-newtown-anniversary
The parents of the slain reporter have a different take on easy access to firearms. And they're not saying no guns they're saying let's clean up the system and make it harder for crazy people to gain access. What we have now obviously isn't working. Not everyone in the US likes the gun culture the way it is in America. They have Constitutional rights, too including Alison Parker and her parents. You keep saying nothing can be done but these events keep happening. Like the Mom says: "We cannot be intimidated..." http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/30/us/alison-parker-parents-gun-control-virginia/
Is it ridiculous because you find facts ridiculous? Fact: almost twice as many kids died drowning in pools over the same time period.
What do swimming pools and walking across the street and getting killed in an airplane crash have to do with child access to loaded guns. It's not supposed to be a comparison of ways you can die. It's fixing a problem that exists and kills people.
