Why can't he get any tryouts? I haven't seen him punt but he must have a ridiculous leg. Must be his accuracy I guess, or him shanking punts.
I'm wondering if his heart is into it. On a youtube clip, he looked a little slow on the time to kick from the time he got the ball to me--Will post when I find out anything.

Macc said he will miss the first 4 games and that Short Term IR was an option. He probably won't be put on short term IR, but if that's a serious consideration, then I don't see the NFI list as an unreasonable option. He will have to miss the 1st 6 games which seems reasonable alongside his recovery time and time required to get into a rhythm again. We'll see how he his healing progresses. Right now, the NFI move gives more roster flexibility. -I think Tommy Bo will have a spot on this roster after all. Bowles had really high praise for Bohanon at his press conference and Bohanon has played well overall in the preseason games (with contributions on special teams). The Howsware experiment hasn't worked out too well. Daryl Richardson has played awful and he was concussed tonight. The Jets will be fine, especially when Ridley comes back. - I think the Top 5 WRs I have listed are locks (Marshall, Decker, Kerley, Devin, Owusu). They seem to really like Enunwa and have him listed high on the depth chart above Kerley, therefore, I think he'll make the roster. I think a 7th WR is very likely since this team has depth there and could use extra special teams contributions. Shaq Evans has been high and low but was recently injured. The guy highest on the depth chart who has also made plays is clearly DeVier Posey. They have been giving Walt Powell reps at KR, but I don't think it means much (Jacoby Ford was taking the KR reps last year before his was cut). I think Owusu will take over those duties when he returns. - With so much depth at DL, it would be hard for them not to keep at least 6 D Lineman. The top 5 are locks. Vickerson is injured, Talley is injured, Deon Simon probably has a place on the practice squad, Davon Walls hasn't played well. Jordan Williams played well tonight, but he's facing a huge uphill battle. The favorite for the 6th spot seems to be big T.J. Barnes. - Bowles loves his LBs. I expect them to carry at least 7. Henderson was performing extremely well before he was injured (and he should return very soon). Jamari has tons of special teams value and made a case tonight on his INT return. He's been making tackles all over the field as well. Babin has performed well in addition. Reilly, Barnes, and Taiwan are all facing uphill battles, and I don't expect them to make the roster. -Bowles also loves having a plethora of safeties. I don't think he will settle for less than four. These four are straightforward choices, especially with the Eskridge injury. - The only surprise here is that I don't think Marcus Williams makes the roster. It's going to be incredibly hard to fit 7 CBs on the roster and I think either Marcus or Dexter will be the casualty. Dexter was ahead of Marcus Williams a week ago and has made some good plays in game. While Marcus Williams does have the INT from Week 1, I don't think that will be enough for his spot on the roster. Of course, this could change very easily if there's an injury or if Dexter or Marcus Williams do something extraordinary in the coming games. Dee Milliner will probably be ready for the season, so I don't see him being put on the PUP list.
Marcus Williams has been one of the most impressive defenders this offseason, he's shown he can be a starter and he's only gotten better. Bowles has been talking him up as well. He's easily my 4th best corner on the squad, you can't cut him. Bohanon might make the team, only because we have zero depth at TE. Cumby is whatever he is, stick a fork in him. You might as well just line up with 10 guys, he's just ineffective in every aspect. Outside of Amaro you can't get excited about our TE's. I bunched them together (FB/TE/HB), so I have us carrying 1 TE, 1 FB, 1 HB. But I really, really hope we find a decent TE or trade for somebody before the season begins. A decent veteran receiving TE can be so incredibly important in Chan's offense. We need that safety blanket over the middle to dump it to for a 5 yard gain every once in a while. We can't do that with Cumberland, he's awful. Give me Tony Gonzalez at this point, anybody. Anyway, I did a quick update. Fixed a bunch of stuff, I think the guards on the outside looking in right now are Dozier & Freeman. I have Aboushi at LG, Qvale as the backup RT, Winters as the backup C/RG as well as Harrison who was drafted this year, I don't think they're gonna give up on him that fast. Babin to me is a lock now. Mays & Lattimore at ILB. And Ridley at RB.
poisey should prob be moved higher and Graham looks like he is on outside looking in. I think Saxton gets scooped up
Yeah, just fixed it. If we carry 7 receivers which I think we will considering how banged up we are at that position now (Owusu, Kerley, Devin), that final spot will be a tough battle between Posey, Graham, Hakim and Shaq Evans. I'm not sure if Graham is still in the mix, seems like Hakim moved ahead of him as the KR/Deep Threat type guy.
When teams cut down to 53 men I could see us pulling multiple offensive linemen off of the waiver wire.
When I saw Aboushi and Winters manning both guard spots at the same time I really got worried about Petty's health.
you are fucking crazy. Marcus Williams should've had a pick 6 yesterday too, he has played REALLY well, I like this guy. He's definitely making the roster. 11 DBs is just fine.
It's always great when a Cumberland welcomes you to the team. Makes me really get excited about this guy. At least we got rid of Walls. One less immature turd to worry about.
The pick up of Lacosse is probably not worth its own thread so it is appropriate here. I too was thinking of posting it in this thread. I like this pick-up. I hope this signals that Kellen's days are numbered.
List updated. Added Ridley back to PUP. Stacy will probably be the #3 until Ridley returns after week 6. It'll also be interesting to see how they deal with the Pace situation. He might miss a handful of games. Mauldin is banged up. I'm sure Babin is going to take his spot in the lineup, but unless Pace is out 1-2 weeks only I'd probably consider putting him on PUP and take somebody like Reilly to the active roster for those 6 weeks. Or add another veteran. Trevardo Williams was drafted by Macc I believe, I'm kind of hoping we might give him a shot here in the 3-4. Undersized linebacker but really explosive, looked good with the Redskins and still only 24 I believe. A finesse version of IK.
A minor correction...before this year's draft, Mac had never drafted anyone. Just because he was working for the Texans doesn't mean that he had anything to do with Trevardo.
I'll start with CB.Keeping 6 makes the most sense..which to me means it comes down to cutting 1 of these 3: Mcdougle,Williams or Walls.Walls is a useful piece both as an experienced veteran but also matching up against bigger more physical slot guys. Williams is a good slot "change of direction" type, who also offers some speed to play on the outside;Really I don't know what Dexter Mcdougle is. Yes he moves well & makes some plays on the ball. But he also gives way too big of a cushion to his match-up & way too much space. He also hasn't played a full season of football in over 2 years. Is he good enough to play in the NFL? Probably. Is he good enough for this Jets team? I'm not so sure. Now if he ever found a way through waivers...I'd sign him to the PS in a heartbeat. I get that Posey caught the TD from Petty & Mac traded for him..but what else has he done to stand out?He hasn't really convinced me of anything. Really after Owusu, if we're keeping 1 more TJ Graham is likely the best football player. I was really pulling for Shaq Evans. I thought he had big time potential. Most of his drops came during camp drills this offseason & not during game or team. He made some plays & for all the talk about Enunwa, Evans is a pretty big guy in his own right..and much more athletic. As tough? Not so much. Maybe he gets lucky & gets a diagnosis to stay on the IR through cuts just like last year.
Going into training camp, I was rooting for Marcus Williams and Chris Owusu, as I think they were the most pleasant surprises from last season. Both guys have earned spots on this roster and hopefully will be good starters someday.
We could have upgraded from Willie Colon to Evan Mathis for a lousy $4 mil. How come we can't have nice things like the Broncos?
I will be totally shocked if Geno Smith is not carried on the roster. I think Flynn is added after the 1st game so his salary won't be guaranteed. Geno will be on the roster. I think you're probably right about Bohannon. According to reports, he's been having a good camp and with our very suspect TE position, he probably will stay. I think the Jets will keep 7 WRs - Marshall, Decker, Kerley, Devin Smith, Owusu, Enunwa, and DeVier Posey or Graham I hope a TE will be cut that will be an upgrade over one of our TEs. With regard to the OL, I agree that they'll probably keep 9, but at this point I will be surprised if Dalton Freeman makes it, but he may simply because he may be considered the 2nd best center on the team. Wesley Johnson has been getting a LOT of reps with the 2nd team lately at center, however, and he could play another position, but he will probably make the PS. You don't have Aboushi on your list and I would be more than a little surprised if he doesn't make the team. I think that Ijalan, Qvale and Winters are probably locks, however, so it would logically come down to 2nd string center (Freeman or Johnson) or Aboushi. It will be interesting. There could even be a camp cut that replaces one of these guys. I think you're probably right about the DL, and then Bowen will go once Richardson's suspension is over. Since when does Bowles love his LBs? That's a new one on me. With Phoenix, he would often pull a LB or two in favor of additional DBs. Still, I agree that he probably will keep 8 LBs. Mays has been playing very well, is excellent on STs, and he has a shot to make the team. Reilly has had a very good camp, has a great motor with with both Pace and Mauldin hurt, he has a chance to win a spot for the next week or so. With Pace and Mauldin hurt I could see them keeping Babin, but if Reilly demonstrates that he can play the SAM LB position, he could supplant Babin. If Reilly doesn't make the team, I don't think he clears waivers to make it to the PS. I think he will probably keep 4 Safeties, but since he has toyed with Walls playing safety, Miles could go back to the PS. I will really be shocked if the Jets don't keep 7 CBs and Marcus Williams doesn't make the team. I think Revis, Cro, Skrine, Milliner, Walls, Williams and McDougle all make the team. One thing is certain. Some player or players that posters here like are not going to make the team. If Aboushi isn't on the roster because of being suspended for game 1, when he comes off suspension, someone will have to go. It's going to be interesting.
Yea...I have changed my mind about Geno again since that was posted. It's not that I don't like Marcus Williams...I really do...but 7 CBs is a lot. In the past, Bowles' defense (at least on the cardinals) only has carried 4 CBs. The year before that was 6 CBs....but 7 CBs is a lot to carry when you have to carry over a FB, an injured QB in geno, 6 or 7 WRs, and carry some extra LBs. I'm not saying I agree with it or even like it, but I just don't think they carry 7 CBs. Whether the casualty is Marcus Williams or Dexter McDougle remains to be seen. I only hope I am wrong.
Yeah, I'd rather they cut Bohannon. In the long run, I don't think he would contribute as much to the team as one of the DBs or LBs.
