I'd be down with this. I have a feeling that Petty won't look lost (if he closes out the season), and that Cook is going to perform well enough to be a top eight pick.
I don't think anybody here favors Fitzpatrick or Petty to any degree at all. What they say is they deserve a chance to show what they can do because the incumbent positively sucks (based entirely on his first two years of playing).

I really wonder how long they will let Fitzpatrick play against the Giants..normally in week 3 it would be most of the game but if he gets hurt that would mean Petty starts and Heaps backs him up as they would be the only two healthy QBs left on the team, no guarantee Flynn will be ready.
I think he gets a half then one series after halftime then out. Very conservative game plan, heavy on the run and quick short passes. I don't think he's going to be doing a lot of 7 step drops and scanning the field for 5 seconds. _
Of course I would prefer they just sit him and let Petty start so we could see what he could do with the starters but that just might cause a lot of controversy

Yeah but even as you said they will just dummy down the game plan so there is little or no chance he gets hurt so what's the point? Let Petty play, at least part of the time with the starters. I would love to see him air a couple out to Marshall and Decker, I doubt he would dump it off two yards down field.
You never know..they may not want to take a chance with Fitz...it is forever etched in peoples minds what happened to Sanchez in the Jets-Giants preseason game.
I used to think that was a bad idea, and I do still think it's a bad idea for the reason of Jets fans fucking with Jets fans... But with the horde of Patriots fuck faces that look to have infested the board, maybe it's not such a bad idea after all.
