I'm actually ignoring your tweets but since it's so early I thought what you said for once actually made sense but you never fail to prove me wrong. My bad. I want to apologize for actually thinking you are capable of reading or even forming an opinion that human beings would consider reasonable. I'm sorry.

Try really hard. Read again. You can do it. And I'll stand by what I said. Your typical 3-4 OLB can't make a play there. Whether it's Dumervil, Aldon Smith, Von Miller, Suggs, Justin Houston, Peppers, Clowney, name them, they can't play in space, they can't move the way "linebackers" do, they don't read the play/coverage/route, then drop back and continue to run with players and cover receivers that are 50+ pounds lighter and 1-2 feet shorter than they are. That's not how physics works. They are linemen with their hands off the grass, that's the only thing that makes them linebackers. Of course a Sean Lee would have made a play there, of course Lavonte David would hav made a play there. If you think Coples at 6'6, close to 300 pounds is similar to a 6'1 - 220 pounds Lavonte David in any way, shape or form (physically, mentally) then you really have to catch up on football. And with that, be gone.

My tweets? What the fuck are you talking about?

Your entire post is a giant rambling glob of hairy dogshit. I hope, for your sake, that you made it while you were blind drunk, because it doesn't make whatever you believe you are any more intelligent looking, or even coherent.

Come back to me when you are sober with some attempt at redeeming yourself. Don't post again while you are shitfaced. Many people would be mad at me if I embarrassed you off the forum and you stopped pasting tweets into your trademark threads.

LOL TGG is once again a drama show, for better or worse. This should be good, regardless.

Coples is not a BAD lb. He is not a pro bowl type player, but he is decent. It's crazy to hate on him for 1 missed play in a pre-season game, but I think we can all agree that he wasn't worth the 16th overall pick at this point.

Well, to be fair, we drafted a highly rated DT with that 16th overall pick and tried to make him a 3-4 OLB.

Coples is a bad OLB. Let's just call it what it is. He doesn't put a lot of pressure on the QB when he rushes from the edge and he can't catch a RB in the flats. That's a bad OLB.

When the Jets line him up as an interior pass rusher he puts some pressure on the passer.

On a positive note, Colon hasn't been called for a single false start

Eh. He was pretty bad, but a lot faster and more athletic overall. He wasn't going to excel at anything. He was a situational pass rusher, a legit 3-4 / 4-3 tweener. Coples is not. He's a true lineman. And he can be a really good lineman if we'd just line him up out there every down. Instead we have him jamming people and dropping back, stopping the run. Waste of talent / skill. Now would be the perfect time to just line him up at DE ahead of bums like Bowen or Talley who might not even make the team and see how he does as a full time DE this year in this defense. And Mauldin opposite Pace. That defense would be a lot better and more disruptive than Bowen at DE and Coples at OLB.

you're probably right....like Cro, Colon is a vet who isn't trying yet. Once the season starts Cro's coverage and Colons false start penalties will see big up tick

If you knew Colon you'd know that he doesn't waste his false start / personal foul flags in the preseason for some meaningless bullshit when he's fighting for a job. Once regular season comes around, once he's the starter, those 3rd down situations, when we're down by 2 points, in FG range with 1:20 mins on the clock, that's when you can count on Big Willie to step up and draw those flags.

Bryan Thomas was 6'4 266 lbs out of UAB. He ran a sub 4.5 40 at the combine and instantly got on everybody's radar. Even with the better build for an OLB he struggled for years to make the adjustment to OLB and it wasn't until Eric Mangini came along that he finally began to play well outside.

Quinton Coples was 6'6" 284 lbs out of NC. He ran a 4.78 40 at the combine.

They're not the same type of player. Thomas was a speed rusher at UAB who got 35 sacks in his career in college. He was a DE and an edge rusher. Coples was a DT who was very good at dominating guards and getting into the backfield. NC moved him to DE for his senior year when they changed coaches and defensive schemes. He was ok in that role but nothing special. He doesn't have the burst to get around bigger tackles and he isn't strong enough to dominate them the way he dominates guards.

It was a huge mistake to move him to OLB, a mistake that basically has set the Jets back two years in finding the edge rusher they need.

he's not an edge rusher, and he's also not an every down 3 or 5 technique.

that's the problem with Coples, he doesn't translate well into a base D.
he is very good at situational pass rushing, especially from the interior. i think that's where he fits in best.....3rd down or obvious passing downs.
but you don't pay 7.5M for that, which is what he's set to earn next year.

Its time for the Jets to run more 4 man fronts. Babin, Mauldin can be the speed rushers coming off the blind side.

By the way the elephant in the room with the Jets right now is that they are absolutely loaded with Rex Ryan-picked talent but his talent really only fits in his schemes. Bowles was a good DC in Arizona and he's got a leg up on most other people in terms of exploiting the Jets current talent but it's going to be a project for him. Calais Campbell x1 is a great asset. Calais Campbell x3 or x4 may not be as great.

Coples is an interior guy. Rex made a stupid decision, thinking he could turn him into someone else he had once. Bowles is compounding that dumb decision.

Bowles and Mac will make a decision on what defensive lineman to keep after this season. The scheme could be completely different next season. Wilk, Richardson, Williams those 3 guys you can put anywhere on the defensive line and they could have an impact on each snap. Coples and Snacks are question marks going forward. Coples will prob be let go because you aren't paying 8M for a rotational lineman and Snacks still has tons to prove in terms of rushing the QB.

Rex picked these guys, but Bowles could fulfill their full potential. Lets hope Bowles keeps the right players and create a scheme around them. Bowles knows both the 3-4 and 4-3, and has used both extensively. Maybe more than Rex did. You can never have too much talent on the line.
