This is what upset me way more than Geno's busted flapper. Pass rushers are so hard to come by. When Rex/Idzik gambled on IK late in the draft. And then he was starting to look like a diamond in the rough. Someone to watch and root for. Then asshole immature turnover machine dumb as head lice Geno Smith sent him to the Bills. I could care less about Geno's jaw, but losing IK could be a big loss down the road.
Wait until he breaks Sammy Watkins' jaw. On a serious note, everybody knows IK has loads of potential, his skill was never in question. I'm not sure why people are shocked or surprised the guy can actually play. If he avoids doing stupid stuff I think this move will pay off bigtime for the Bills, this is essentially adding a late 1st round or 2nd round pick to your defense. But if he doesn't and something happens again it could probably affect your entire season and create a rift among players, in the locker room between the players and Rex for bringing him in and vouching for him, among Rex and the Ownership/GM, amont the fans and Rex, the media is going to kill and mock your franchise and so on. Rex is a habitual line stepper. You can only add so many of these guys to your team, at some point ONE of them is going to blow up, it's just a matter of time. Those guys are ticking time bombs.
A sixth round pick who played 30 snaps in the garbage time of the season now equates to a first or second round pick. Only on TGG
It has to do with thinking IK is a first or second round talent is ridiculous. He wasn't going to make our roster, and without some injuries he wasn't going to make the Bills roster.
I didn't say he's a 1st round talent, I said adding him is essentially the same as adding somebody late in the 1st or 2nd round. Now look at who some of the players are being drafted in the 1st or 2nd round and then think about it again. Yes, I think he could have been a double digit sack guy, a 5-10 sacks per year guy here, and I think he has a chance to be that for the Bills. That to me is a late 1st or 2nd round guy. That's the production you want out of that. As for the rest, you clearly have no clue what you're talking about. IK is a stud special teams guy and he was arguably one of the best defenders for us throughout camp. To say that he wasn't going to make the team despite being the only true edge rusher at that point is beyond absurd. Of course he was a lock to make the team.
I think they should have handled it differently. For this move to pay off for us IK would have to be ineffective in BUF, Fitz would have to struggle and Geno would have to come in midseason, bail us out and take us to the postseason. That's not exactly a very likely scenario.
So IK is the equivalent of a 1st or 2nd round talent and is destined for stardom and pass rushers are harder to discover and develop than QBs. Oh my God, what have we done?
I think the 1st or 2nd round talent thingy is a bit of hyperbole but it's not out of the realm that IK could become a disruptive force getting after QBs and those guys aren't easy to find. And those are the types of guys that can be situational at 15-20 snaps a game and not play 50 snaps a game. On the other hand, it doesn't appear that our QB has the chops to develop into a legit top flight QB that you are going to count on for 50-60 snaps again and if he can't, he's a waste. We won't know for a while but it might have been a bad trade off, recognizing still that you can't go around punching players, especially your nominal starting QB. _
