Updated. Punter Jacob Schum was released. We also picked up a new TE in Arthur Lynch, some much needed depth. He was drafted by the Dolphins last year in the 5th round, has good size (6'5 - 260 lbs). Did some other minor changes as well.

Can someone take a stab at a depth chart for the OLine. I have lost so much touch with what's going on at the Gs and RT positions that I can't tell who we think is likely to start.

    TIA.

It's a good signing for us. He's primarily a blocker. Better than Cumberland at blocking for sure. Most likely competing with Kellen Davis for a spot but would love for him to push Cumby. Not very fast though

I think he should have had some real competition but at this point he's probably a lock. He's not bad, he was really good for the most part but just very inconsistent. I remember him "shanking" a bunch of punts last year, they went like 30 yards, stuff like that just kills momentum and he's had too many touchbacks last year. The year before he was pro bowl worthy. He's had only 2 years so I think he'll get better, I doubt we can find somebody right now who's gonna be a lock to beat him out.

I don't think we're gonna see any changes. Aboushi & Winters backing up both guards. After that you have Dozier and Harrison as the 3rd stringers along with Qvale. At tackle it's a toss up between Ijalana and Wes Johnson I guess. Freeman is probably the backup center if we carry one.

LT Brick - LG Carp - C Nick - RG Willie - RT Breno

Yep, looks like it. Sounds promising. I read he's had back issues last year, hope he's good to go now.

I really wanted us to draft Lynch along with Amaro last year so I really like the signing. Hope he stays on and competes for a job.

That starting unit looks pretty locked in.

There was some change along the 2nd string though:

LT Ijalana - LG Aboushi - C Johnson - RG Winters - RT Qvale

If they keep Harrison as a red shirt, it's going to be tough to trim down to 9 total on the 53.

Whats up with Oday Aboushi? I've read hes been taking reps with 3s? - via Cimini. Anyone see him in person at Florham Park?

They moved him back to LG, he's Carps primary backup right now. His roster spot appears safe but I doubt he will be starting any games for us unless Carps/Colon go down. Doesn't seem to be a great fit in Chan's offense. Dozier & Qvale are behind him and Winters currently so they most likely won't make the team as of now. But we'll see what happens the next 3 games.

Given our historic reliance about defense, he's a terrible punter. Rarely does he assist in the field position battle by kicking one out of bounds inside the 5, or booting a strong one from deep inside our own territory.

On a good offensive team, he'd be better suited with his decent net average. Personally, I'm interest to hear something about Kyle Loomis with the Seahawks but haven't heard a peep. He didn't even get to punt in the 1st preseason game.

The way this organization drafts offensive lineman also baffles me. For christ sakes stop looking at place like Massachusets, Central Michigan and the likes, and take a redneck or bubba from the SEC, Big 12, Big 10.
Aware that Aboushi is from UVA.

Qvale is the backup RT as of now, and he's got the flexibility to play G.
Dozier and Harrison are 3rd string G's, and Harrison will likely get protected on the 53. Aboushi is anything but safe to make the 53, and probably would not make it as of today.

but you are right, the next 3 games are crucial for all these OL battling. a lot can change still.

u sparked my interest regarding Loomis.
i haven't heard anything either, and it doesn't appear as if he's even on Seattle's roster anymore. not sure what happened there, as the guy was an intriguing rookie prospect, albeit 27 years old.
i'd give him a shot to compete with Quigley (who i agree is not very good).

Holy crap--rotoworld doesn't have him on roster at all--looks like he didn't make it through minicamp? If so, I have to say I was full of it and apologize for getting you interested. I'll do more research.

let me know what you come up with..
if he's healthy, i don't see why he wouldn't be getting a shot to compete somewhere.
