I guess I shouldn't be. You know, I love the X's and O's of the NFL - the game is so fast and there's so much going on. But the owners are ruining it.

And I don't want a fucking team in london either, one of the things I love about this game is we don't have to share it with the rest of the world.

I hear you. the owners need to get out of their own way. the entire Bills Toronto thing was doomed to fail from the start and 5 minutes with any football fan from this city (their are tons most are just smart enough to cheer for teams other then the Bills) could have ended that entire joke from the get go.

Yeah I hear you, which is why I asked the question. Initials reports are usually wrong, but usually the ones we best remember.

Good for the NFL, not the players. At this point, it's not about Brady anymore; those that think he cheated will think he cheated regardless of the outcome, those looking for proof after that the NFL acknowledged it doesn't have any will continue to think otherwise.

A ruling for the NFL validates what they've been after all along: a precedent to now do whatever they want, when they want, without any any proof; at least until the next CBA (in 2020). That's why the players and their Union are in the majority against Goodell.

It's called the Law of Unintended Consequences, or in layman's terms, "be careful of what you wish for"

    Viva la revoucion!

Except it's FAR more likely the NFL screwed up being heavy-handed and Brady will get exonerated if the judge has to decide the case.

Their proof is brady destroyed his phone when he knew he would have to produce it the next day...everyvody can squak all they want that isn't proof but since they made the commissioner a god in all this it's all the proof that is needed.

This judge will decide in favor of the NFL or it will be appealed to another judge who will, it really doesn't matter. Their agreement says Goodell he has sole power to rule so he can trow all the hissy fits he want but that is how it will end.

That's literally the only leg the NFL has to stand on...and they don't exactly have subpoena power to make a guy turn over his phone, or specific guidelines punishing them for not doing so.

"No direct proof". "It wasn't an independent investigation, but it doesn't have to be". The NFL's word, not mine. At this point, upholding the NFL and their ways are the precedent the NFL seeks to do what they want, when they want, moving forward. This is why the players are united. If a precedent is set for a league who admits "no direct proof" and "we can do whatever we want under the CBA", then God help the next guy.

The players I why I watch and who I support. Do as you may.

that's the only leg they need and don't forget who Goodell works for and if they wanted him to back down it would be over, they obviously don't. and if this judge want to vacate the CBA i am sure the owners would be thrilled to have that happen and then instead of going to the bank with their million dollar checks to deposit they can go on strike instead. you think the owners would be bothered by that? I'm sure they will weather the storm.

    The NFL won't back down

If Brady wins there will be more player litigation and less football

Tom Brady starts, misses high on first two passes

Tom Brady may or may not start the regular season opener. But he was out there for the preseason opener.

The Patriots quarterback started Thursday’s preseason opener against the Packers, despite reports earlier in the week that he would not.

Brady threw a pair of incomplete passes on his first drive (which some might say had a bit too much air under them). He at least completed a pass on his second drive, hitting Brandon Gibson for a 10-yard completion to start the next series, though it fizzled out quickly after that. He finished the night 1-of-4 passing, before calling it a night.

He was also behind what amounts to the second offensive line, with tackles Sebastian Vollmer and Nate Solder out, and no starters from last year on the field with him.

Playing Brady also runs counter to coach Bill Belichick’s longtime rule about not playing if you don’t practice.

Brady, of course, was getting ready for his #DeflateGate hearing the last two days, making him unavailable for the preparation for this game. But even with a chance to get backup Jimmy Garoppolo reps against the Packers starters (reps he may need if he starts the first four games), the Patriots gave their star a chance to receive a loud ovation.

Or maybe they just wanted to moon Roger Goodell for putting them through all this.

The NFL may not back down but they always get their ass handed to them in court with player discipline issues. Goodell for being a lawyer is an incompetent boob who gets every one of his suspensions reduced or eliminated on appeal once it goes to court.

    Goodell is not a lawyer.

2 things, if Pollard isn't being held on the play by wh I believe is Sammy Morris he likely gets up and finishes the play and secondly this change should have been made after Kimo the destroyer destroyed Carson Palmer's knee in the playoffs 2 years earlier.

    Good call on that one.

Palmer was never the same player after that injury.
