My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Geno praying for Sheldon at 31 Flavors last night when IK flew in and clocked him. I guess it's pretty serious.
I heard he was kneeling before the Oreo Malt Madness ice cream while praying. Come on, embrace the Ferris!
If then why did Bowles immediately cut Ik? Why is Richardson probably going to get some additional suspension time or a hefty fine? Why do players who run afoul of the law get punished by the league or their teams? It may happen far more than we know, but if it does and nothing's been done about it in the past, that just shows how stupid a lot of coaches, GMs and players are for having tolerated that BS and how they'll sell their souls to win at any costs. I think you're probably right about the past. Thank God, people are waking up, growing up and realizing that the ways in which athletes have been excused, pampered and allowed to do whatever has created many of the problems we have now, and schools, the NCAA, NFL teams and the NFL itself is starting to crack down on this nonsense. Just because they are talented on a football field does not and should not excuse them for the same expectations for behavior and the same laws that the rest of us must follow. They aren't "Gods," they are humans who are blessed by nature and who have worked hard to get where they are. The rest of us work hard as well. People need to get over this hero worshipping insanity and quit looking up to movie stars, rock stars and athletes. They're no better than the rest of us, and in many cases, they're far worse.
You're right, they shouldn't! It's insane. Dez ought to be cut and never allowed on a football field again. The same goes for Aldon Smith. They ought to have to load trucks or work construction or something the rest of their lives. Their antisocial, sociopathic behavior should not be tolerated.
OK. I thought you were saying things should be different in the locker room than in our work places. Sorry if I misunderstood you. That's what I didn't get. That didn't seem like you to think that Ik's actions were ok.
Whatever happened, it was still pretty immature not to even tell IK he wouldn't be able to attend as well as not paying him back and copping an atitude about it.
Don't mean to make this about me...but in my prior career I developed the skill of being able to read people's credibility, how they are perceived by others, etc. That said,I simply cannot get a read on what makes Geno such a bad guy. I'm not saying he isn't. Too many people in the media/teammates/fan base hinting at it. But what exactly is it? He always seems to say the right things in the media (w/ the exception of owning up to mistakes on occasion), He keeps his poise in practice & in most games(Turnovers & overall performance aside)He doesn't really strike me as a thug & he hasn't proven enough to be a diva. So what is it? What exactly is the rub on this guy that makes him so unlikeable? I don't buy into the draft day fall...and frankly I never blamed the guy for doing nothing more than being emotional. He was supposed to go 1st overall, some internet schmuck slanders the guy every which way & the next thing you know he falls to round 2. Now I know other things went into that decision to pass by teams...but I just don't see an issue w/ a competitor...young kid...w/ the spotlight all over him, having a moment of weakness over his livelihood. I also know he cussed out a fan but so did his head coach at the time Again..I'm not defending Geno.If he's a bad seed it is what it is...i'm just trying to get a better idea of what the actual deal is. This IK/Debt situation lends alittle insight but not much else. I've heard the "Spoiled brat", "Low IQ", "Disrespectful" stuff before. I'm just not sure what evidence is out there to support that beyond him being upset on draft day when all of these labels seemed to come to light. I know about all the on the field stuff...so I don't wanna hear any whining or puns about interceptions or boneheaded turnovers. I'm merely speaking to character & some level of leadership. What am I missing?
No, I think the shock was at losing the starting quarterback. When this sort of thing happens to a scrub everyone just quietly deals with it
This time it's Brady Quinn. "Was I surprised?" Quinn said. "No. Not from being there for half a season because I've been around him enough when I was at the Jets but also I've been training down here. I saw some of the things and how [Smith] kind of carried himself a little bit. And I think if you don't know him he can probably rub you the wrong way." As Smith will be sidelined for 6-10 weeks with a broken jaw, Quinn believes that he should've never put himself in that situation. "You're one of the 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL," Quinn said. "You can't let this type of altercation ever happen. You're the face of the franchise. What happens is you get your face busted up for acting like that."
The odds are Bowles approached this the way he did because he's come to grips with the fact that the Jets had no adult supervision for years under Rex and he needs to get on top of it right now or it will bury him. 1. Sheldon Richardson, suspended, *then* does something really crazy that makes things much worse. 2. Injury bug bites Jets hard (no reflection on Rex at all but it's a factor for the new coach). 3. Two players blow up in the locker room causing him to lose both of their services in his first camp as head coach. He's got some volatile personalities in that locker room at this point. He's got to get on top of this now. One more weird player blowup and it *is* a reflection on him. First impressions are lasting impressions.
When we were trying to negotiate before hearings when I worked for Child Support I always hoped the non custodial parent would get out of hand so I could crush him. Besides that I worked with almost all women so no other chance to hit someone.
Geno-fer Lopez but no....the reports on him being a Diva out of college were just mistaken... http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...york-jets-remains-spotlight-all-wrong-reasons
I never have. I would rather talk it out and work on it then to start a fight. As a 29 year old, I got too much to lose. Not trying to have someone press charges on me or whatever. You can be civilized and still cause an altercation.
