I mean, I can not believe the crap I'm reading lately in regards to this incident. It's sickening to me. I want to hear everyone's opinion because I feel like enough is enough and we are the only ones that can boycott this drivle. You got people blaming Bowles for this, claiming its a reflection of the coach. Which blows my mind because that's just not easy to sell when the guy is the complete opposite of RR, be isn't allowing Richardson time with the ones and he completely cut the other guy who broke his QBs jaw. I ask myself.. If Rex was still here, would he have made the same moves? I loved, Rex. The thing is, I think I like Bowles approach more and I don't think Rex would've cut IK to be honest. He was never that type of discipline based coach. Then you got Mehta and his non-sense unanimous sources again. Anytime I watch a press conference, the only type of question that comes out of this frauds mouth is something that is based around hopes of some controversial response. He has done this to Bowles and MacCagnan several times now and neither ever bite on it. They are not, RR. The human soundboard. So instead, its almost like they know they will never get anything good to write about like they did with Rex. So this scumbag and many other beat writers are taking this incident to a much larger scale because they know they may not get something like this again for a very long time. So, to me, it feels like an attempt to take it amongst theirselves to create another "circus" atmosphere for this team, create a perception with this team that will keep people clicking on all their future garbage articles. Anyway, I will stop with my rant but I'm so sick of these crappy beat writers. I know we've been down this road before but something needs to be done before it gets out of control. I like to think ahead a lot in life and I already see where this is going. How do you guys feel?
I've been saying it for quite awhile Dean, the media is the circus.. there is the belief that negativity and controversy sells better, so the media stirs that pot as much as possible........especially in this market.
The tri-state media market is huge. Everybody is trying to differentiate to sell. That's the problem. If the Jets moved out of town it would take about a split-second for the big red target to move to the Giants.
I hope Todd Bowles and the rest of the Jets handle them like I do. Just ignore the nonsense and don't feed the fire. The best thing I ever did on Twitter was unfollow Manish. The guy is beyond a hack. Some of the Jets beat writers are okay, but most are just looking for headline grabbers. Bowles has handled the media very well thus far, Mike Maccagnan too.
The problem with the NY Sports media, unlike every other local sports media in every other location on the planet, is that they hate their teams. For the most part, they are not fans of the team and they (personally) find stories about conflict and discord far, far, far more interesting than stories about what is making the team (or likely to make the team) successful. Their goal is to stir up trouble and they find zero (none, nada, zilch) joy in any part of covering the team. Some, like Mehta, simply make up stuff when they bored to stir up trouble. But here's the takeaway (that will undoubtedly be unpopular with part of this board): Anyone who cares what these morons (the collective NY Sports media) thinks or says about the team is an imbecile. Their goal is to make you upset (it sells papers and makes people tune in to the radio) - if you allow them to make you upset, that's your fault. And if the team itself allows the media to change their approach to games? That's on them and they are frankly too stupid to own, manage, coach or play for the team. The media is irrelevant. If they become relevant at some point in time, it is because you have screwed up (by caring what they have said or reported).
VERY BAD! The New York media is both parasitic and opportunistic. Unfortunately the Jets play right into their hands by always appearing to be a dysfunctional train wreck of an organization.
Honestly I dont think the players or coaches give two shits what the media says about them..the majority of em atleast. The media is put there to put fans into a frenzy. Good or bad. But to me things are never as good as the media portrays them when a team is winning and they're never as bad when the team is losing. But no doubt the NY media prefers a loser. We got more headlines in our losing offseasons than the Giants have in their Superbowl offseasons. That should tell everyone all they need to know about NY media.
I agree with you to an extent. I do not allow these beat writers to ruin my day, I am much smarter than that. I understand the end game, I understand their deceitful means. It falls in line with your general everyday media propaganda. What I do have an issue with is the fact that these guys\woman are supposed to be credible sources, the networks I enjoy watching like NFL Network, ESPN look to these "credible" sources for intel and news worthy material. Unfortunately these hacks are not only feeding the locals with this drivel, they are feeding the mainstay networks that every fanbase watches, which then leads to even more negative perception with this team from the masses. I am not ok with that, I do not like to be force fed this bullshit because the beat writers for this team are illogical chaos driven ass hats. I ignore the articles, I live in Ohio so I'm not around the local scene except when traveling for work, so its not so bad but it is disgusting when everyone has this negative perception of your team because we can't get quality beat writers for this team. So, ignoring the problem may help you as an individual which it should. It won't change and there can't be changed until the problem is met head on and we do something about it. That's all I'm saying.
If Rex was still the coach the entire fanbase would be blaming him....I personally feel like you can't always blame the coach for certain things and this is one of them..But I know for sure Rex would have gotten killed if he was the coach.
Good or bad, it's reality for the Jets. The largest media market in the country and it's very convenient and easy for them to pick on the team that always seems to be dysfunctional whether the Jets truly are or not. The NY media, which basically is the national media because every major news/media outlet is HQ'd here, has an easy target in the Jets. They magnify the Jets issues and make them out to be 10 times worse than any other franchise in the league even if the problems are exactly the same or similar. Unfortunately, the Jets will always be an easy target for these media dipshits, who just so happen to reside in their backyard, until they start winning and keep their dirty laundry in-house and private
Follow @cloprestiwfan and @kmart_li they seem pretty level-headed and don't seem to push their agendas like the others
You can't blame the media.....do you see stuff happening like this with the Giants? This team always creates these shitstorms that the media sinks its fangs into....its the teams fault not the medias....The media didn't punch Geno
The media is acting as though stupid things only happen to the Jets. I think we've been conditioned to accept years of thinking "Giants good...Jets bad". Have we forgotten that one of the Giants best players just blew his hand off with a fire-cracker and is refusing to even talk to the Giants about it? "The dysfunctional Jets"..."The Jets are broken franchise"...it's just too easy a narrative for lazy media types who get evaluated by clicks to their web-sites. We as fans can't get sucked into this.
All you need to know about the media is summed up in 2 great examples, 1. Last year when asked if he felt the jets would have a better record if he was starting vick said" i don't want this to be misquoted, but as an athlete you always feel like you would do better and help the team win more games" next day headlines, "vick says he should be starting" 2. Dustin keller after leaving jets for miami was asked about circus atmosphere in ny. His response, the media is the circus around the nyj. headline, keller says jets a circus.
I think the Jets have one of the worst media groups in professional sports. I've never seen a group of local media who lives to trash and make fun of the team they cover like the Jets beat writers do. It's one thing if national media does it, but the local media does it even more.
The media does their damage on the Giants too. Not to the same extent but they have put into Giants fans minds that Coughlin deserved to be fired the season after both of their SB victories. If Coughlin led another franchise outside of NY to 2 SB wins there would already be a statue of him outside the stadium.
the media absolutely LOVES to jump on the jet bashing wagon as soon as they can. They are riding the Rex wave of the past. Overall NFL fans do the same and follow suit. It's annoying to me yes. But the only way to stop it from happening, is to win.
