Honestly, I think it's a good move and a no lose situation for Rex and the Bills. 1. It's a fuck you to the Jets. People were saying rex created the circus and guess what . . . Rex is gone and the circus keeps going round and round. (It's not TB's fault, it's a trend that will take time and winning by this franchise to go away. 2. Rex said off that bat that IK might not even make the team, so there is no long term commitment to a player who is inexpensive and has upside (Many people on this board were high on IK and thought he could have a good year) 3. Rex is loyal (sometimes to a fault) to his players and Rex drafted this guy last season when many teams wouldn't because of his past. IK knows this and with Rex giving him a second chance, IK (unless he is brain dead), will be on his best behavior at least for the short term.
The ultimate troll would be if the front office set up the contract to give him a $600 signing bonus.
Rex is a fuckin idiot and here's why. He's been living his life with a circus tent over him. He finally has a clean slate in another franchise and what does he do? He signs guys like Incognito and IK after they have known locker room and fighting issues. But here's the best part. Rex actually signs IK without logically thinking of the repercussions. You don't think Geno is now looking to press charges? And now the NFL can intervene and file charges against him for violence in the work place. So essentially Rex signs another locker room headache and a guy who will likely face charges from the league and potentially criminal charges from Geno. Fuckin moron. But don't worry, according to Rex "IK was a great teammate"!!
Geno will not press charges. It's best he gets his mouth fixed as quickly as possible and move on. Dragging this out longer wouldn't help neither of them. IK was having a good camp and shown signs he can be a force on the field. As far as I know outside of punching a cop he's been OK off the field. Sent from my LG-LS720 using Tapatalk
I still hope that Rex says or does something to set Ik off and he mops the locker room with Rex. It would serve him right.
Personally, I find it hilarious. But even more importantly, as a Rex fan (I think he's a terrific coach and has been unfairly stuck with the crappiest QBs in the league), this is his last chance as a HC ... he should do and coach EXACTLY the way HE WANTS and ignore what anyone else thinks. Then if he loses, he only has himself to blame. If he want to build his version of the old Oakland Raiders? He should try.
Oh just give it time. This guy faced charges for punching a police officer and now he sucker punches his starting QB. It's only a matter of time before he beats Rex Ryans ass
of course it was a good move for Buff. He's a young ascending talent, a high motor pass rusher, knows the system, they understand how he fits the system, he's crazy cheap, he has to be on his best behavior, and the team can cut him at any time. Rex, Thurmond, and Dunbar all personally coached IK last season. They know him personally and professionally better than any other coach in the league, so they've got the best feel for the potential and the risk. They also know Geno, and enough guys in the Jets locker room to get the most accurate account of what actually happened. essentially, they found a way to potentially improve their team at the expense of a divisional rival who just got worse. it's all upside, with very little downside provided EJ doesn't loan him cash
He was going to earn the rush backer spot behind Coples now in his second season. very high motor, bounces off blockers, decent first step on the pass rush, and very physical. looks like a wrecking ball when he plays....in the mold of a poor mans James Harrison in some respects. i expect he would have contributed in special teams (showed flashes last year there), while pass rushing in subpackages. the main question to me (outside of his temper/immaturity apparently) is whether he can ever be a complete every down OLB. so he's ascending, but still needs plenty of work. my hope was he'd potentially be able to replace Coples in 2016, but that's out the window now.
He was having a good camp. Strong and fast with a low center of gravity. James Harrison type of build but jury was still out on whether he could take it to a real game.
