Well yes, big picture I agree.

100% agreed. I understand why people wouldn't want to look at it as two separate instances but this is why I am. One of them goes far far far beyond what should be going on in the locker room. Really what should be going on in life.

The conversation regarding IK's behavior is this - he was wrong.

The rest of this thread is about what Geno did or didn't do.

Look, I don't know where you grew up. Maybe somewhere in the Hamptons or something. I get that there's people who maybe walk away anytime they get pushed around, walked over, or when they see trouble starting. I don't think that attitue is going to help you in life or get you very far in most cases. Other people grow up in different areas. If I'm arguing with somebody we're gonna yell all day, there's nothing that would make me get physical with that guy. But if you put your finger in my face that's like the referee in a boxing match go "fight!". You might as well punch me instead of doing that. That's the most disrespectful and embarrassing thing you can do to a man, somebody who is your age, twice as big/strong as you are. You don't treat him like your 2 year old daughter. Just accept the fact that there are people who aren't perfectly civilized and have a very short temper. That doesn't mean it's ok to disrespect and embarrass them in front of team mates.

You don't think the attitude of not wanting to get into a fight get you far in life? I would venture to guess that most people who have made it far in life would completely disagree with you.

Well we have different stories from different sources, right now no way to know the truth for sure but not really that important because IK hitting Geno was still uncalled for in either narrative.

Actually when you grow up, being man enough to walk away from a fight does get you further in life. Maybe for teenagers, fighting over every imagined slight is necessary but not for adults.
You punch someone for pointing a finger at you then you are guilty of assault as far as the law is concerned so that would tell me it was not warranted in this situation.

Geno: " Sorry IK, I don't have your money but I'll tell you what, I'll give you a hundred dollars for every game I go without throwing a pick!"

    IK: (Throws punch)

IK is 100% wrong, that being said a saying I learned along time ago comes to mind.
Never mess with another man's food, money, or women.
Everything else we can let sly.

sorry but I had to laugh as you are the very first person I've ever encountered in my life to question if I grew up in the Hamptons. :D far, far, far from that lifestyle. but I'll accept it as a compliment as I wish so.

IK not clocking Geno Smith over a disagreement is not getting pushed around, its not letting someone walk all over you. There are many ways to resolve issues and be assertive without resorting to violence. One would've thought IK could have learned that in his FIRST stint with anger management after punching a cop, but I guess not.

as for not getting far without it? IK only got far when he WASN'T violent. its the punching/violence that has held him back. He almost cost himself a shot at the NFL with his first incident in college and now he's out of the league because of this. So actually the opposite of what you are saying is true. If he/or anyone really DOESNT resort to violence they will get farther. IK is the prime example. He might have his pride but he doesn't have a job. good call there

lol...what stripes has IK earned? I think Geno has earned more stripes than IK has, so that would show a lack of respect towards Geno from IK.

Judging by his past history I would say that IK has some mental/anger issues.

Without knowing the facts, it is pretty dumb to be blaming Smith for this. The coaches and the team had the facts and they chose to get rid of IK and not Geno. That should tell you something.

Maybe Geno offered to pay him back and he was dick about it and just kept saying "I don't want the money....I wanted you at my camp...blah...blah...blah". Maybe IK said something about Geno's dead friend and that is why he got in his face.

Nobody on here knows what was said or what happened other than Geno got punched by a guy with mental/anger issues.

Oh...Ram...I hope you realize that unless Fitz comes in and lights it up without getting injured all season, Geno will be back this season. This isn't a season ending injury. And unless he starts performing a lot better than he has so far, Fitz won't be lighting it up. So, sorry to burst your bubble, but you will probably be seeing Geno again this year.

And please do yourself a favor and learn some English before you post again. Trying to read your posts is difficult with sentence structure worse than a two year old.

IK is gone now he can not hurt us any more than he already has.

No one has said he was right to hit Geno.

Please stop trying to use the magnitude of IK's actions as an excuse to let Geno off the hook.

What we can and should be talking about is Geno Smith, how he got himself into this mess, and what it says about his ability to lead this team to a Superbowl as the starting quarterback.

I wasn't being completely serious, well 50% of that yes - but we lost 2 players yesterday. I don't think anyone wanted this dude.

Now that's not what I said. People actively looking for fights won't make it far in life. People actitely running away from fights won't make it far in life. Between that you have people who don't start fights, they're not looking for trouble, but if trouble arrives they're not backing down. That's IK. I don't want to get into fights, but that doesn't mean I'll just run away if somebody pushes me arond. Ever since he arrived here the coaches and players said nothing but positive things about him. Even after the incident Colon was sticking up for him a little, saying he's a good guy who works his tail off every day. He wasn't looking for trouble, did he? Geno approached him, Geno put his finger in his face. It's not like this big bully chased down Geno and told him if he doesn't pay him back by 6pm he'll kick his ass. I just don't understand why you even go there. The guy is twice your size, twice as strong, why do you put him in a situation where he feels like you are flat out disrespecting him? Why do you assume nothing is going to happen if you do that? That's very naive, cocky, whatever. Mangold could get away with it, but if you're Geno you really have to be extremely cocky (or just big balls) to think that you can get away with this stuff.

I stopped there, because it's equally as ridiculous as what I thought you were saying in the first place. Again, you'd have a hard time finding any non-athlete that has made it far in life agree with you.

haha well if thats how it went down then it was a good bet for IK. Geno started 16 games his rookie year and only 4 where he didnt throw a pick = $400. Last year 13 games started and three without a pick = $300.

You are a grown man and a leader of this football team (supposedly). You do not get in anybody's face unless it has to do with football. This is a blessing in disguise for Jets fan Geno is not a leader (Just listen to his teammates not defending him). Play on the field is a wash Fitiz and Geno are about the same talent wise with Fitz having more experience.

This was most likely the end for Geno with Jets at least makes the hill that much harder to climb.
