Maybe I'm in denial, but as jet fans....we all need this thread. At the very least to make us feel better.

Antonio Allen S (IR) - AA is somewhat of a fan favorite. He's made good plays in the past and was progressing well at safety until Rex moved him to CB last year. Yes AA is a tough loss, but we're talking about a backup. Granted, Bowles will likely rotate his players and AA would've seen good playing time, but the next man up (Rontez Miles) has shown tons of promise.

Zach Sudfeld TE (IR) - Sudfeld is another favorite, but once again we're talking about a backup. Sudfeld would have been competing with Kellen Davis, Wes Saxton, and Steve Manieri for the 3rd TE spot. I doubt he would have seen much playing time anyways.

Devin Smith WR (OUT) - This one stings, yes. Smith was a very intriguing prospect who could've competed for the KR spot. His development was also interrupted as he was coming along nicely. However, he will likely be ready for game 1 of the season.

Dee Milliner CB (OUT) - The reaction to this injury surprised me, because everyone was screaming end of the world. Dee Milliner is at best the #4 CB on this team. A year ago when he was the #1 CB this was a huge deal. Dee will miss maybe 1 or 2 games as a rotational player. Marcus Williams and Dex McDougle will fill in...and the Jets could do worse.

Sheldon Richardson DE (SUS) - Ok. So this isn't an injury, but still a case of a player missing games. This one made me sick just because he is likely the 2nd best player on the team. If you want a silver lining, this is probably the one position (DT/DE) the Jets could afford something like this. The Jets play a 3-4 anyways and if Leonard Williams is the player he is suppose to be then the Jets have Leonard, Wilkerson, and snacks up front (That ain't that bad). Who knows how long Sheldon will be out in reality, but the Jets will be alright at this position.

Geno Smith QB (OUT) - Sigh. Geno looked really promising this offseason. This injury is definitely the one that hurts the team most. If all goes well, Geno will be back by Game 3 at the earliest. If he misses 3 or 4 games it's not the end of the world and the Jets have a competent backup in Fitzpatrick. How much better is Geno than Fitzpatrick in reality? Honestly, they are probably close but Geno's ceiling is higher. Worst case scenario, Fitzpatrick stinks and Geno comes in in Week 3 or 4. Best case scenario, Fitzpatrick leads the Jets to a 3-0 record and remains QB.

I guess the point is...stop freaking out. Injuries like these happen in all training camps.

(Heads up) Don't freak out when the Sheldon news comes. I have a feeling fans will be blindsided when it comes (probably within the end of the month). Brace for the worst (season long suspension).

    Move along.

Look at the Cardinals last year.

For Bowles this is just another day at the office.

Makes you wonder if this coaching regime is not doing the right things to prevent injuries. Maybe the team should spend another 10 minutes stretching lol.

Hoping the league offices feel bad for us about Geno that they forget to punish Sheldon ;)

If IK had spent another 10 minutes stretching he would have taken Geno's head off.

I'm really hoping this is a one time injury with Devin. I really like what he brings and IMO he can be as dynamic as a Miles Austin.. Sans hammy please!!

Mike MacCagnan looks like a damn prophet. Three of his top four picks have been at positions where Idzik's picks had implosions:

    Williams > Richardson
    Mauldin > IK
    Petty > Geno

    Truly jaw dropping stuff...

But none of these are soft tissue injuries so stretching has nothing to do with it. Maybe the tempo and tenacity of practice needs to be addressed.
