Cris Carter on Geno: "Lack of leadership" http://deadspin.com/cris-carter-say...source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow
That is typically during a game when things aren't going well. Not in the locker room during training camp. Two very different situations.
Never said I was "happy" about any of this shit. But I'm not going to ignore their careers to this point based on a couple of weeks of practice. He would have to look shockingly awful in the preseason for my 2015 hopes to be lower than if Geno were starting.
if Geno did swing first, i'd be a little pissed IK was released. not that i'd excuse punching a QB, but that would mean both were clearly at fault, so i wouldn't be down with only blaming one.
Brady stuck his finger in someone's face? In any event, I know Tom Brady. He's a proven Cheater. But as for the rest, Geno Smith is no Tom Brady, no matter what locker room.
From Deadspin: Why Did Geno Smith Get Punched In The Face? Here Are Some Guesses. The reasoning for now-released Jets linebacker Ikemefuna Enemkpali breaking quarterback Geno Smith’s jaw hasn’t surfaced yet, so until then, let’s make some guesses. To start you off, here are some staff theories for why Smith got punched: The two were arguing about whether George R.R. Martin had actually written any pages of the next A Song of Ice and Fire book. Geno and I.K. were playing FIFA on the PS4, and Geno was busting that ass, and then I.K rage-quit, and then Geno said, “Ha, you’re a bitch, I.K.,” and then I.K. was like, “WHAM.” A candy bar. Geno farted on I.K., and I.K. didn’t like it, so he threw hands. Geno said Batman could beat Spider-Man in a fight, but I.K. said Spider-Man would win. The quality of Vince Vaughn’s performance in True Detective. Uber regulations. Geno said something about I.K.’s mama. “I’m saying the studio butchered it with reshoots.” “Yeah man, but Josh Trank was reported to be extremely difficult on set, and who’s to say his original vision was any good to begin with.” What do you think they were arguing about? Don't be. It's the best thing that could have happened to us. IK did the job the coaching staff was apparently unable or unwilling to do.
Some people can't handle their temper. IK is a piece of shit and I hope it relegates him to stock boy at Walmart.
The guy who punched him was arrested when he played for Louisiana Tech for punching a police officer. The Jets knew this and still got him. DEEERRRRPPP
What if Smith was taking a leadership role? What if IK was acting a fool and Geno felt he was the guy that needed to demand he stop, that he wasn't doing whT was best for this team? What if he was taking on that leadership role on the locker room and got clocked for it? Nothing is apparent until you have all the facts.
Well, he does make a good point. It shows that he doesn't have the respect yet in the locker room. Guys like Brady & Peyton do this stuff all the time, they can get away with it. If Geno, EJ Manuel, Manziel etc. does the same thing then there is a huge problem. It doesn't make it OK to punch those guys, but it just confirms that they are not being respected inside the locker room. At least not the way you would want your QB to be respected and viewed at. It's wrong to act like an ass and put your finger in somebodies face. But if you're gonna do that make sure you actually have put enough work in to get away with it. Geno isn't there yet, he shouldn't be disrespecting other players like that.
