http://www.newyorkjets.com/team/depth-chart.html Notables: - Geno starting - Colon 1st team RG - Bowen over Douzable - Davis over Amaro - Walls over Marcus Williams - Sheldon still over Leonard Williams - Kerley at PR and Owusu at KR
How is Amaro number 3?Amaro better step his game up I'm counting on him to be the franchise TE .....He should be ashamed that Davis and CuCumberland are in front of him
That'd be my guess. But I don't really remember hearing anything about the tight ends during camp so I don't know where they stand.
He's an H-Back and it looks like Davis is prolly the blocking TE. CuCumberlander is the one I wanna finally see some production out of as the #1 TE, for fucks sake. Amaro is gonna get his I say
Saalim Hakim being listed last as WR pleases me. If Saalim is on the team this year I will be very upset. He's a speedster track-star, not a WR.
I've been a quasi Cumberland supporter because I think he has talent but I'm about done expecting anything from him anymore
Ugh Walls was so mediocre last year, he cant jump for some reason either. Marcus Williams is younger and has way more upside. He's like the defensive version of Owusu in my book. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And that's with supposedly better blocking. I was hoping that I had been wrong about him and that he would be as good as many others thought, but this isn't very encouraging. I never wanted the Jets to take him. I always thought he was a product of the system he was in and the fact that he was almost never covered. I hope he still proves me wrong, but if he can't beat out Cumberland or Davis, that's not a good sign.
Well this depth chart proves that the depth chart the Star Ledger had the other night for the OL was probably concocted (guessed on) by the Star Ledger based on who played the other night or something. I think there are several surprises on this depth chart. The first surprise for me is that Cumberland is still the starter and Amaro the #3. I like Cumberland, but have about given up on him. He's been as inconsistent as Geno and disappears too much, and has had his own issues with staying healthy. The second is that Winters is the 2nd string RG , Qvale the 2nd string RT, and Freeman still the #2 center. The third is that Aboushi is the 3rd string LG. He's not even in the mix at RG, and Dozier is ahead of him. I like that Dozier is showing something. If things stay this way and if the Jets keep only 9 OL, then based on this depth chart, I think Ijalana, Qvale, Dozier and Winters are the backups. Freeman, Aboushi, Harrison and the others are gone. Dozier or Winters would be the backup center. I like that Bilal Powell is the 2nd string RB. I figured he would be based on Bowles comments early on that Powell would see a lot more carries this season. He's also the Jets best receiver at RB. At WR I'm a bit surprised that DeVier Posey is ahead of Enunwa, Graham, Powell, Evans and the others. Unless he has looked good returning kicks, the Jets don't have a KR, and have a mediocre PR in Kerley. I assumed that Mac traded for Posey because he thinks he has talent and believed he would get a shot, but find it hard to believe that he has shown more than Enunwa. I don't recall seeing Posey's name yet in camp reports. Enunwas has dropped a few passes, but has also made some great catches and is a big target. It will be interesting to see who makes the final roster and who be returning kicks. On D, Bowen ahead of Douzable is a little surprising. I don't know much about Bowen, but know that Douzable has made some plays for us and been a good backup/rotational player. If Bowen is better, that's a little exciting. At LB, I'm surprised that Babin is ahead of Ik. Ik has had a very good camp so far, at least in terms of pressuring the QBs, and I haven't heard/seen Babin's name once. At CB I'm totally surprised that Walls is ahead of Marcus Williams. Out of the 3rd stringers and the rest, I would hope that McDougle, Milliner, Marcus Williams, Ik and Reilly make the final roster. I hope that at least Babin is out and wouldn't be upset at all if Pace was unseated by Mauldin and Reilly. Taiwan Jones, Deon Simon, and maybe Eskridge hopefully can go on the PS.
I doubt very much that the depth chart going into the regular season will have any similarity to this one. Looks like just thrown together with veterans holding down the top spots ahead of better, younger players. Once the preseason is done we'll have a different picture I'm sure.
Walls should not be ahead of Marcus Williams. Hope this depth chart was set up by an intern and not the coaching staff.
