Comparison for First 2 Seasons: Geno Smith: 25TD 34INT Mark Sanchez: 29TD 33INT Sanchez took a big step in Year 3 with 26 TD 18INT. The team was falling apart around him though. This is the opposite for Geno in Year 3, where the team looks to be getting better around him. A similar stat line for Geno (Hopefully less INT's) could lead the Jets to the playoffs for sure.
I don't have the sure fire answer, but I do think Sanchez should have been left in the starter's position during Geno's rookie season. The asinine move to put Sanchez into the 4th quarter of a pre-season game and losing him to injury was the beginning of the end as far as this team having anything behind center.
I think some of the players are behind Geno Smith even after last year's debacle. Notably, Decker and Amaro. Now you add Marshall and his tremendous support. If he can't progress this year, we need a new QB and that will come from the draft.
I am happy to hear the positive reports on Geno out of training camp and wish him the best (especially since the team is depending on it) but I am skeptical and do not think anyone can or should be blamed for feeling the same way.
I agree and I am VERY skeptical myself. I want to see how Geno reacts when the going gets tough; great he's improving knowing the system, but I need to see if he's improved mentally.
Pretty much every single thread on here descends into: - "I think Geno will improve this year." - "I want him to, but I don't think he will." Same sh*t, different thread. I'm pretty confident a discussion on the role played by Islam in affecting Israel's foreign policy would end in another repeat of the same pointless conflab about whether or not Geno's gonna suck balls in September. Looks like Geno is the best we gots. I'm pretty sure Bowles won't let it get out of hand if Geno goes on a shit streak. He's said as much.
It's one of those things that make me want to sign up for twitter just to tell him he does have support, and to ignore the scum fans. I honestly can't believe any fan would boo their own player at a practice. Lol so pathetic..
I think he's already shown improved mental ability. When he was booed, his head didn't go down, his shoulders didn't slouch, he didn't "Sanchez". If you're talking about an improved ability to read an NFL defense, it's probably best to wait until he faces one instead of trying to predict the future.
The people booing are not booing Geno. They are booing the GM that didn't replace him and the Head Coach who has decided to let him begin the season as the starter (again). Unfortunately, the only way to express unhappiness with these decisions (short of billboards - which EVERYONE loves) is to boo when the Genover is on the field.
I was there last night. He tew 2 crappy interceptions and then the fumble and looked like crap to begin so there was a smattering of boo's, no biggie, but that's what the media puts in headlines the nex tday. I did not boo but I was a little down seeing that crap again but he got it going and looked good. It was not a big deal either way. Just some people who hate Gino n like to boo.
Sure. Because every player, coach, and front office member knows exactly who (and why) each individual fan is booing, right? Makes total sense. Sent from my 709v82_jbla118 using Tapatalk
