Seriously? You really believe that a coach in any sport, at any level, should not be facing a season with a positive attitude even if he knows his team hasn't a chance to win a single game? Do you really want to see any NFL coach telling the media in August "We really suck at so many positions this year that we may not win a single game"?
I'm not trashing the guy at all, I did really like him and he made the Jets relevant for a few seasons. I just think at some point you can't blame all your failures on the other guy, or the players or your OC. At some point you have to look in the mirror and say some of this falls on me. I'm the captain of the ship and if it springs a leak I need a decisive plan of action. Instead Rex was looking to place blame. He has a great defensive mind but he needs to expand on that if he wants to win the Super Bowl. He has the ability to do it but as I said he would need a lot of things to break his way to happen. What I mean when I say that is he needs to find a good starting QB, not some rookie or some journeymen type guy. I also believe he would need to win the division and get a bye, I just think because his teams play physical and grind it out going on the road 3 straight weeks eventually catches up to you but that extra week off could do wonders of course it could also hurt. I also think he needs a rally good RB. He's got that now so I do expect the Bills to be much improved offensively. I think he's in the upper 3rd of NFL coaches but at some point you just have to go your separate ways. No worries on the comment, it happens sometimes.
I don't need an article to know that Idzik destroyed the team. Losing Revis and watching him give New England a discount and win a superbowl with them is evidence enough. I guess I agree with Barry the Baptist on this.
1. I just don't understand why all the FO discussion has to turn into hatefest with Rex. 2. Like I said - Idzik's draft was a fucking DISASTER. Give me his track record, and tell me it wasn't. I double-dare you. That doesn't involve anything with Rex. It doesn't have to turn to that fat turd. 3. And that was all I said back there - Idzik's drafts were a fucking disaster. I could see some merit in his first at least; his second one was a draft to forget. Out of the two drafts, Jets have one 1st rounder on hospital bed for good 8 weeks, another one suspended for minimum 4 games, another TE that can't beat a street FA and a whole lot of nothing. But this has to turn into Rex hate, right? Holy fuck.
It's not about the Bills, it's totally related to the Jets as Rex is talking about why in his opinion things didn't work with Idzik. Just because Rex is the coach of the Bills doesn't automatically make anything related to Rex about the Bills.
Old news at this point.....Anyone with half a brain cell could have figured this out two months after we hired Idzik.I didn't like Idzik from day one there was always something missing there with him....a certain ingredient can't quite put my finger on it.All I know now is that Mike Mac looks like he could be a good one
Probably needed somebody this shitty to make Woody realize that he needed a new scouting department from top to bottom.
The whole point is if that was the Jets and they won 4 SBs everybody on here would be defending the Jets the same way the Pats fans defending them. Not a damn one would be talking about "professional" including you.
Yeah, he found a sucker. I don't like people comparing one bad thing to make another bad thing seem better. It's terrible logic. Just because Idzik was an awful GM doesn't mean Rex isn't a bad Head Coach and deserved to be fired.
Did Rex make mistakes? Hell yes he did. But who the hell can win with the roster he had last season? Idzik never worked with Rex. As a GM you job is to get players that fits your HC style. Did Idzik even come close to doing that? Hell no. In fact he did the opposite so to me that on Idzik not Rex.
Good write up. I actually feel bad for Rex going to Buffalo only because of the non-QB situation he has on his hands. We've already seen up close how Rex game plans when he has no faith in his QB, and it ain't pretty. You almost KNOW he's gonna count on his D to hold teams to 10 points for less while he hands off 50 times a game. eeesh. As far as playoffs, I think any team from the AFCE will have to win the division. Can't see us sending a WC team after beating each other up all season.
Someday U all will realize that Rex is a egoist & allows his ego to effect every decision he makes which means he will also not win the SB in Bflo & be canned there as well JMHO
No doubt Idzik was the final nail in Rex's coffin. However, as a fan who thought he should have been fired after 2012 and then definitely after throwing Mark to the wolves against the Giants in 2013, I know Idzik is not the only reason the Jets were bad in 2013/14.
