According to his CBA full co-operation is expected. If the allegations were so false then he'd have nothing to worry about. Agreed that the NFL can't be trusted but bis action have only made this worse.
I don't agree that he has nothing to worry about with the NFL. I'd say to anyone from any team, if the NFL has a chance to skin you to cover their own mistakes, they won't blink. And they are a seriously leaky ship. If the NFL knows it, plan on the world knowing it; whatever it is. The CBA could have been fair with a neutral arbitrator. The fact that Goodell wouldn't let a neutral arbitrator rule on this speaks to the dysfunction.
Re read my post i was agreeing with you on the bold. As for the CBA, the players somehow were convinced to hand Roger this power. Not sure what carrot he dangled in front of their face for it. It is pretty funny how proud of himself Kraft was in getting the latest CBA done and it's suddenly blowing up in his face.
My bad, I misunderstood. Straight up dollars is my understanding on the Goodell power. Yeah, how this affects the NFL as a whole is yet to be seen but I do think it will have an overall damaging influence.
I expect the players to strike the first moment it is legal to do so. The players cannot be happy with the way things are going.
The players took a shit load of money for a lot less practice. I think they are happy as clams. Figured they'd get it next time. _
Really? How bout the "false information" they came out of Kraft's mouth through all of this?Patronizing the entire league w/ that garbage apology to the fans for basically trying to backhand a deal to get his player off the hook? Or the 3 or 4 times he's declared that "this will be his last time speaking on the matter". You wanna talk about "bogus"Your owner has come across as a sleazy used car salesman.
How would Brady know the investigation was bogus? It had barely gottent started when he began not cooperating. How would he know what was false and what was true unless he knew exactly what happened, and why those balls had been deflated? Without personal knowledge, which he claims not to have had, how would he be able to say? He was not judge and jury going into the investigation, situated in a place where he had he right to decide he could not and would not cooperate going into it. He did not have that right, and he did not have that information.
You're right about one thing, Brady didn't believe he had any reason to think the investigation was going to be bogus when he testified to the "independent" investigators. You're wrong about Brady being judged uncooperative. According to the Wells report, other the phone records, Tom Brady was completely cooperative and answered every question posed to him. Wells told him he WOULD NOT face punishment because of his refusal to hand over his phone. Wells reconfirmed all of this while testifying at the appeal hearing. I understand why anyone not a Pats fan believes Brady was a part of cheating, and it would be a waste of time trying to debate it. But doesn't it bother any of you guys that the league has gone to such underhanded lengths in this? I would think fans of any team would be up in arms if the league handled an issue to do with them in the manner they conducting themselves in this one.
It's a history of cheating, it's the "patriotway", it's in 'winning' a game and stating pompous remarks 'study the rule book' while knowingly achieving 'underhanded lengths'. You really have to have the wool pulled over to believe that Brady didn't know. HE KNEW Serve the punishment, it all goes away. Brady is solely responsible for non cooperation and extending this drama to federal court. Wells and the league never disclosed anything, and Brady is not being punished for failing to turn his phone over. Wells told Yee "I'll take your word for it"...'you do the search, you turn over the information we asked for'... 'If it's not relevant, leave it out.' The Brady phone destruction and failure to cooperate are just a couple of pieces that support the, 'more probable than not'.
Wells did not tell Brady he wouldn't be punished for not turning over the texts on his phone. He never said he would be punished though. I'm sure you understand the difference and wonder why you would falsely represent things. Wells was an independent investigator and doesn't discipline NFL players so I'm not sure why Brady would expect him to say whether he would or would not be punished for anything. His job was to investigate what happened.
How was I also not right about how Brady either DID know what actually happened to the balls, or if he didn't, how could he say what others said about the matter was false? He can't have it both ways, as the persistent troll Grogan wants it. As for your conflating what the investigator said or didn't say with whether it was appropriate to discipline him for lack of cooperation, Not answered that. I would merely add Brady is lucky he did not have games added to his suspension for destroying his cell phone. I would have added another four games.
Again, I'm not arguing Brady's innocence or guilt. I'm talking about the unfair kangaroo court Goodell and the league ran. This from John Dowd. The man who did the independent investigation of Pete Rose. I pasted only a small section. http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/07/opinions/dowd-nfl-brady-investigation/ On July 28, 2015, after a six-month investigation, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell denied Tom Brady's appeal with the baseless claim that Brady had not cooperated with the NFL's investigators by destroying his cell phone and must therefore suffer the penalty of suspension. In fact, neither the commissioner nor his three law firms ever told Brady that failure to produce his phone would be viewed as a separate charge of obstruction. Indeed, in the hearing, Brady testified that if he had been aware of that claim, he would have turned over his cell phone -- and in fact he did turn over the telephone's materials. The fact is the NFL rejected Brady's offer to cooperate. By telling Brady they didn't "want to take access" to his cellphone, the league effectively set Brady up for an ambush when he was unable to produce it upon appeal. By failing to notify Brady that not producing his phone would result in discipline for non-cooperation, the league denied him his fundamental right to a notice of charge and the right to defend against it. And by repeatedly shifting its goal posts on what was expected of him -- and what could be used against him -- the NFL's investigation lost its fairness and integrity.
You mean like when the league did far, far worse to the New Orleans Saints and nobody gave a sh-t? Nothing the league did regarding the Patriots personnel deflating the footballs was "underhanded" - they ran an investigation, the team and Brady did not give their full cooperation and ... based on the information was able to gather during their investigation, they league finders of fact found it more likely than not that the Patriots tried to change the air pressure in one or more footballs after the referees inspected them and, further, that Brady knew about it. Here's a thought that might work for everyone involved going forward: Your team could STOP F-ing CHEATING. Just follow the rules. Nobody feels bad for the Patriots, their owner, their douchey QB or their fans; pretty much the whole world finds this group repugnant.
Everyone know the NFL ops are leaky ship. This by no means they aren't going to fight to discipline known cheaters that have to lawyer up to deflect blame and run massive propaganda to claim innocence while trying to bite the hand that feeds them . Simple admittance of guilt would have had this gone away by April but here we are. Pats are guilty, ball boys are guilty, Tom is guilty so are Kraft and BB for continuing their cheating schemes to rewrite NFL record books
