Well isnt that just swell. That what you chose to bold? That there will be reporters in the room to protect poor Tom and the always misunderstood Patriots? Your logic is why me...why me? SG..If I were you, I would quietly disappear..very quietly. Decades from now, as I stated before, posts like yours will be drudged up from some old server to show the current 2060 NFL fans how far they have come. They will point to posts like yours and show how Americans back then would protect anyone anytime if it put a dent in the team (not his son..his daughter...his wife) but the team they root? for? Followers of our generation... the one of broken mirrors...where no one looks in the mirror to check their stupidity level. Please...just stick with the temp, in a controlled environment, was 40 degrees colder on your side and then proceed to show Bradys shriveled nuts as proof. That might get some attention.
While the whole post could be straight-jacket material within most countries...the bolded part..it concerns me. Notice I didnt say surprises me. I also thought O.J. Simpson was guilty..so f#%@ me.
Reading (and understanding) this post should be a prerequisite before any posting in this topic. I only question why the writer believes the league has more to lose than the Brady camp should the earlier transcripts be revealed.
I don't know, Jay, I think you're being way too emotional about this. The judge is clearly trying to dynamite the parties into a resolution before they come to court next week. Its not hard to read the writing on the wall. The suspension gets cut to two games, Brady accepts it "so as not to miss practice and put the whole thing behind us for the good of my team", the league gets to say they held a hard line, Brady gets to continue to act the martyr. His loyal legion of dickless minions will get to continue to profess their undying love and admiration. Think about it. As bad as it looks for the guy to be destroying his cellphone, the league looks pretty heavy handed here. Four games for an offense that usually results in a fine, based on circumstantial evidence, and the league acting as judge, jury and executioner. Sure, Goodell probably has the raw power to do what he did under the CBA, but it still looks pretty harsh. I hate the fucks as much as anyone, and their snivelling dickless fans more than most, but this is heading for a resolution that nobody is going to be 100% happy with. Except SteveGrogan. No matter what the outcome, he'll spin it in favor of the Pats.
I just do not agree D. I really do not. Wouldn't you agree by taking the air out of a football that you are trying to cheat? Win the game? There are not many things you can do in a game that would change the outcome. Imagine this...the game is tied. Brady throws up a pass from his 20 and a receiver makes a one handed catch. New England kicks a field goal and wins the game. Have we seen this before? Many times...now imagine this comes to light after the game. That a team took air out of a football...to make it easier to grip..and catch. The NFL would have a real problem with the fan base on this one. The distraction of the score of that game...how one-sided it was..well...heavy handed you say? For cheating? A single player can be caught doing a performance enhancement and get the same type of punishment...but Mr. Brady attempted to change the outcome of the game so his team could catch passes the other team MIGHT not be able to. 4 games? I think thats a joke. Im too emotional? This has very little to do with Brady...or the Patriots...then it does the idea that this was a little offense...and how the OFFENSE is viewed by the public. How the media has fallen in love with courts and settlements...but has fallen for the distraction of the action. I know you are a really sound smart poster....but one more question. How many physical objects can an NFL team f with to help them during the game? Better yet...heres the best question I can ask. WHY does the NFL even have a rule concerning allowable pressure in a football. Why? Thats the question to everyone that thinks this is small potatoes. A fine? Every team would change the pressure every week if it were just a fine...and other than the kicker...every team would take air OUT of the ball. Every....team.
jay, I'm not holding any brief for the Patriots and their actions here. But there is some precedent for how the league has historically handled equipment violations, and in cases where the evidence was rock solid. For some reason, the league chose to ramp up the consequences significantly for the Pats. Could be they wanted to make an example out of them? Could be they know about even more shady shit those assholes have been pulling? Could be a vocal contingent of other teams put a lot of pressure on Goodell? I have no idea. I'm just telling you the way I see it.
couldn't it just be because its both a second offense and an investigation they failed to cooperate with? that seems like justification enough. Goodell compared the 4 games to the 4 games he gives players who don't cooperate with drug tests. makes sense to me
If they wanted to do a settlement story...they should have started the punishment at 8 games or 6 games. Fight until the bitter end Br*dy. You know you are innocent, that's why you keenly destroyed the evidence.
I want to see Brady kick and whine to the bitter end I want to see the league announce new sanctions on NE for violations of the league by law 9.1 for the criticism by Kraft and his grandstanding, the wellsreportcontext website, the continuing narrative lying and cheating and the email thing I'd like too see the owners vote to force Kraft to sell due to repeated violations of the Al Davis rule. His continued protection of BB and 15yr stink no matter how many TV dollars he helped garner is a wash. Nix them all
I guess its the equipment thing Im having a problem with D. Its not a shoulder pad...or a knee brace..a helmet. And D...no way I think you are in the Patriot pocket. I just cant get past the part of its the football. The football a QB uses to throw....a receiver tries to catch. I have said it a few times so sorry Im repeating myself but it has to be judged like this....I have caught many a football filled with air...and had many catches in the backyard with my boys using that football that needs a little air. Making one handed catches with that ball that needs a little air is much easier then the ball thats fully inflated. Its not even close. I just do not think this is a "equipment" issue. I do not look at a football as a piece of equipment...to me the football is the game itself. Its the only thing on the field used..as is a basketball (which any person with smaller hands would prefer to palm it with less air no?). What if they changed the goal posts and made them a few inches closer on their side in the second half. How about more equipment...what if the took a few links off the chains when they had the ball. Sounds nuts right? Anything that can alter the score of a game is the worst kind of cheating. That day...the Colts were at a disadvantage to win that game. 100-0 final score? Who cares. The Patriots that day chose to give their qb...their running backs...and their receivers and edge over the Colts. Not a fine-able offense. Sorry D, I just cant get past that.
BN...good point. Thats where my blood starts to boil all over again. Goodell....FROM THE BEGINNING....should have said "anyone that EVER tries to alter a football so that they may have an advantage will be punished to the MAX. Our game is not the WWE. We play this game to allow the best team to win and anyone that tries to ever soil our game...bring into the gutter...will pay. The Patriots should be thankful that we have drawn the line in the sand with their actions but the next team that tries anything like this...buyer beware...you will receive a punishment worse". Goodell is a f'in fool. He is a fool. He had the chance to have 90 percent of the country in his back pocket concerning this and he fucked it up the way he f's up everything he touches nowadays. A total fool.
Take it a step further. If I were Goodell, I would have asked ex qbs...given a properly inflated ball and one of Bradys...can you tell the difference. It would have been comical. Have Jerry Rice and ask him "which ball would you rather have thrown at you...this one...or that one". There isnt a poster here on this site..given a properly inflated ball..and one that was the same measurement that Brady used...that couldnt tell the difference in 5 seconds. 5. Brady has stated he prefers balls under-inflated. As usual, New England does everything they can to make us, the fans, look like assholes. Right now? They are doing the best they can. Too much time on my hands today...but its very therapeutic. Thanks for listening! lol.
