You're right,I was wrong to lament. Smith is a try-hard who got what he deserved. Geno's stellar past play has earned him all the patience in the world with the fanbase.

    agreed.
Gailey likes to use big WR's in the slot, along with his Hback almost interchangeably.
think back to Buffalo with David Nelson and Chandler out in the slots, playing a very similar role.

that's his best chance onto the team......showing the versatility to line up outside, or be a big body in the slot as Gailey likes.
he can also contribute to ST's in roles more typically played by Safety's, TE's and LB's (like the line on Punt team)..

he has a shot.....i just think it's very uphill, and more likely a practice squad role to gain more experience first.

If this were game two of the regular season, your lamentation would be warranted. It's practice two. Of training camp. At least wait until preseason to lose all hope because of an underthrown pass.

I don't really see anyone "freakin out". . you were just responding to a biting remark about how he's tired of the guy sucking. he does suck.

That ship has sailed sir. My only hope for Geno is that he can keep the damage to a minimum. Helping our new stud WR get a concussion on day 2 is just such a Geno thing to happen.

no you can't say that. the tweets are based on their observations. the tweets themselves might be objective in their words but we don't know if their observations have an agenda.

geno smith throws an INT in practice could be looked at two ways- in a simple tweet sentence the observation could vary easily.

"smith INT on a poorly thrown ball"
    vs.
"great play by the defender on Smith INT"

    fitzpatrick TD pass could be:

"Fitzpatrick with a nice TD pass down the sideline to Graham"
    vs
"Graham burns the 3rd string corner- Fitzpatrick delivers the easy TD pass"

thats why twitter sucks ass.. mix in some crappy reporters and we don't know which way is up anymore

    - Talked to Sheldon. They dealt with it. Is concerned with Sheldon becoming a better person. One more failed drug test and it could all be gone. He needs some help and I'm trying to help him.
    - Trying to reach Sheldon like he'd with his children. You can only help a person if he wants and accepts help. You don't give up helping somebody become a better person and leave them deal with it by themselves.
    - Wants to see Sheldon change first before he buys into the "he wants to change" stuff. Has to show it and prove it.
    - He is remorseful. He's a good guy, but good guys don't always do the right things. He's a young guy, he has to turn his life around.
    - Nothing on Devin (head/neck) yet, will have to check on him first.
    - Tomorrow will be with pads. Jamming, blocking etc. should be more competitive.
    - Lot of competition at WR. We'll see tomorrow when the pads come on.
    - Gilchrist (shoulder) had 2 good days, will have to see tomorrow when the pads come on.
    - Willie looked good, should be in pads in 1-2 days. Ridley week to week.
    - Dexter showed up. Sounded still a bit worried.
    - Had a similar situation in Arizona (Daryl Washington). Can't let one guy take the team down, you have to move on at some point whether they're available or suspended. Game goes on.

That's about it. I've said it many times but I'm glad he's our headcoach.

I guess it's all relative. People may view the same thing in difference ways, like the Stephen Hill catch in the scrimmage last year. Some argued that it was underthrown others said Hill fucked up the catch. These observations are based on the perception of who is throwing the pass/making the play.

exactly, any play can be looked at in different ways. but in the past we'd get a full length article where reporters did their best to capture the day's practices, mixing in their thoughts with interviews from the coaches and other experts. You knew they might have an agenda but at least you got more than a sentence description of a certain play- you got full summaries describing how the guy is looking overall.

Today we get 1 sentence tweets on plays.

Your example of Stephen Hill is a good one. Pre Twitter they'd write an article about how Hill was non-existent in camp, what the problems are, what the coaches think. Instead we got nothing really but their interpretation of ONE play (the only relevant play he had) and we are having to cipher through what we think about that... through the eyes of a junior college level reporter that can sign up for twitter

So... I think anyone that is shitting on Smith is premature.

Same goes for those that are defending him like he is finally the QB of our future.

Truth is, this is only his third year in the league, It is very unrealistic to think Smith should be like Luck or Wilson out of the gate.

Typically is takes awhile for the young QB to grasp it, this is around the time you get a real feel for where he stacks up in this league..

Jeys fans need to be more patient and tamper those expectations.

We truly don't know what he's going to be yet and that's the truth of the matter.

    Time will tell.

Do you also know what the powerball numbers will be? I hope you were a fan of Pennington when he was the QB...because he even said himself that the light didn't come on for him until year 3.

With the lack of talent at WR and OL the last few years along with a coaching staff that didn't do the rookie any favors, nobody but Jets fans expected Geno to do well.

While the OL still needs some work, the WRs have been upgraded enough that you should see major improvement.

Geno may turn out to be a good QB or he might continue to suck. But to say right now, without giving him a chance with actual NFL caliber WRs, that you "know what he is going to be", is hilarious.

If you can judge NFL talent that well, then you are in the wrong business. Judging by your lack of punctuation, I doubt your current job requires much skill.

I'd rather be a low information fan than someone who loses his shit over a mistake made in a practice.
