of course it'd be more fun with Brady or Rogers under center racking up rings with a bunch of no bodies, but it is fun having a ship load of top players like Marshall, Davis, Revis, Mangold/Brick, Richardson, MoWilk, and a few others. That extra $20-$25M/yr gives a GM lots of flexibility to attract and retain some elite talent.

If all those shinny toys are for nothing at least we'll have a lot of fun going 6-10!

Could be worse. Could be a team like Chicago paying Cuttler bags of dough and having no shiny toys AND no rings to show for it.

Plus we'll have more than just one jersey in the stands.

The odds on us winning a Super Bowl with Ryan Fitzpatrick's best season aren't very good.

And yes, we're in a bit of cap trouble again, although it's nothing like the trouble we built into the last window. D'Brick and Mangold and Revis will all be gone in a few years with no major overhang on the cap.

This is year 1 of a new regime, I would be happy if this team can get into the playoffs and experience some success. Not even thinking Superbowl.

Scale to 1 to 10 - Jets cap issues are at like a 5. No need to hit the emergency button. Cap will increase, restructure Brick next off-season, and worry about Mangold a little later. We don't have a QB to pay for, so no point in saving large sums of cap room for something that's not there. Mac and the FO have constructed a competitive roster. 3 year window w/ the vets.

I would probably not pay Suh money to anyone on the DL. But as far as a large contract goes, I would have said Sheldon before last week. I m extremely disappointed in him now. He has never been my favorite guy mouth wise, but I loved watching him play. Now I do not trust him. I think we wind up moving both of them---at different times of course.

I'm not giving Suh money to either one of them. Sheldon is a great talent no doubt, but now, I think he's 1 toke away from a year long ban. Wilkerson should get his $$$, I still to this day do not believe Wilkerson is commanding Suh money. Leonard Williams may replace Sheldon Richardson after all. If Coples has a good year, maybe you look to retain him long-term.

Rich clearly has no sense of priorities. To get suspended he had to have been caught at least twice, correct? You have a million dollar career and you risk it for some foolishness? I know he thinks he is better than everyone else. Aparently he thinks he is smarter than everyone else, too. Athletes, good grief.

Would the GM of a team know if one of his players failed earlier drug tests?

I think Mo has been a consummate pro throughout this whole thing. He deserves that extension and everybody and their mother knows it.

Suh money? No, only JJ Watt deserves that salary. But he should be close.

Every Sheldon screw up gives Mo more leverage and a better and bigger deal.

Wilkerson is a pro and after the Sheldon developments its looking more and more like Wilk is the safer bet for a long term deal and big contract.Sheldon may be the better player but his off the field bullshit has turned him into major liability

    This thread is outdated now.

The answer is Wilkerson, but not even he is getting Suh money since he doesn't produce like Suh.

Richardson answered this for us with his ridiculous behavior. But while I agree that Mo needs to get paid, he is not in the Suh money discussion.

forget the pr. the only thing that counts in these deals is the guaranteed money.

you can cut after paying out the guaranteed money. a 6yr deal at $13m per yaer with $39m guarantted is really only a 3yr committment.

You have to structure the deal with guaranteed salaries and lower bonus money to make that happen. With guaranteed salaries you have more cap impact in each individual year. With a big bonus up front you have more of a long-term cap hit or a really big pro-rated hit over a couple of years.

It's outdated because of the Sheldon arrest news, not because of duration from thread creation.

I know, but people can change their votes now on the polls. Its better then making a new thread about it.

I'm not trying to bash your thread man. At its creation it was a valid question. Now it's just a silly question. I'm not saying people should stop posting on it or to delete it...I'm just saying the question is almost trivial.
