It's a tough situation for the Jets. They can't count on Richardson this year at all because they don't know how the legal scenario will play out and how the NFL will react.

 

Maybe she can get him some work in Hollywood so he can make a little money in his life?

- Evaded Police in a high speed chase
- Was just suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy

It's safe to say he will not be in a Jets uniform this season.
Most likely he will be in a jump suit.

 

Richardson's statement might have included the fact that he knew this was landing on him today.

What happens if his lawyers get the case continued until February?

Then the NFL and the Jets have to react without knowing what the legal outcome is going to be. The NFLPA won't let them shut down Richardson for the year based on accusations that have not been resolved yet. It would take Richardson stepping away from the situation to "deal with a personal matter" to get him shut down at that point.

If the NFL makes him piss into a cup that might resolve the problem, since that would be strike 3 on his drug situation and they could just extend his current suspension. The NFLPA would have more difficulty contesting that although it's not clear they'd give up.

 

In all seriousness, what has happened to Sheldon this offseason? He didn't pull this crap last year, nor in his rookie year.

He probably did and we just didn't know it because the drug policy is confidential until the point a player gets suspended. The 4-gamer he pulled this year is for a second (maybe third) offense.

 

I honestly think the Jets did not know...right? Why would they send him out for the media if the report was coming out?
