True however the defense kept the Steelers scoreless in the 2nd half, would they be able to get one final stop up 19-17? Who knows.
Jerry Rice was undeniably one of the top three WRs in the history of the NFL (Along with Randy Moss and Don Hutson). 3 Superbowl wins, 13 pro bowls, 10 time first team all pro, 2 time second team all pro, NFL player of the year, two time offensive player of the year, 3 time NFC offensive player of the year, Superbowl MVP, Pro Bowl MVP, 75th Anniversary NFL all time team starter, rated # 1 player of all time on the top 100 NFL player rankings All time leader in passing TDs, passing yards, and receptions Rice over Marino should not be a difficult choice to make.
Since about every play has been mentioned, here's a wild card, The Buttfumble. Solidified the Jets as a laughing circus and only play on SportsNation Worst of the worst to be retired.
I already said Rice was the best football player ever. Jerry Rice also had 2 all-time great QBs throwing to him in Montana and Young. If I am a team in need of a QB, I don't see how you would select Rice over Dan Marino - that makes absolutely no sense. Rice ain't going to make a QB like Geno Smith competent. Marino, best pure passer of all time, makes all the receivers around him better. Lifts the level of play on offense. If I had a choice, I am taking Marino and never looking back. Marino had a far quicker release than O'Brien (Marino will take less sacks in this case). O'Brien was one of the best deep ball throwers, I have ever seen though.
that preseason game when Chad Pennington got tackled and broke all his hand bones - DAMN - i was so hyped for the season, and my soul almost died when that happened
Keyshawn Johnson made Ray Lucas look like an ace. You always take the best player, worrying about needing a QB or anything else is the wrong way to go.
46 yard pass to Mcaffrey starting 2nd half of 1998 AFC Championship Game Joe Willie breaking his wrist trying to tackle Paul Numoff in pre-season Vinny's achilles injury
I would have had the Browns defensive coordinator double-team Mark Gastineau on that play in the '86 playoffs . Fucking roughing the passer!
Well how come Key / Ray Lucas ain't get us to the promise land? Don't even say because they switched to Lucas too late in the yr either. That's a half-assed way of thinking bud. You take Marino, especially if you have trash at QB.
Jerry can't throw and catch the football by himself; you must be smoking something if you think I would go to war w/ Ray Lucas as my QB.
He very well could have been. Then again, with his attitude and temper, he could have said eff it and not tried or demanded a trade. Once he started taking the pounding O'Brien did, there's no telling how he would have reacted. Would he have gotten injured? Thrown more interceptions in bunches? Fumbled a lot? Then again, he could have gotten in old man Hess' face and told him that if he didn't make sure the team drafted an OL to protect him that he was going to kick Hess' ass.
That's one of the reasons why I don't understand why Curtis gets such love from Jets fans. He almost always came up small in big games and against top teams. BTW no offense meant, but what happened to that funniest poster? These days you seem very unhappy and often angry. I'd love to see more of the 2007 version. We could use more humor. As Jets fans, we need all the humor we can get.
IMO Vinny Testaverde was one of the prime reasons his teams was bad. He killed his teams with stupid interceptions. He had two good years his whole career, and the rest sucked. Sorry, I can't agree with you that he deserves a Superbowl Faceoff.
