Hate to see Wheeler go but to me he has the lowest ceiling of the pitching staff.

Niese as a potential #5 is still not bad.

So Lagares is not in this deal? Guess he's gonna be shutdown.

I don't like the deal but what can I do about it? He better get it together because he isn't having a good year. .262 8HR 43 RBI's I have to start paying attention to Michael Fulmer. Maybe shut Lagares down and let him get his surgery?

Put $200 today on the Mets to make the WS. Odds are 8:1.

Gomez and the return of d'Arnaud, along with Duda coming alive, suddenly looks like a solid lineup to pair with this pitching staff.

I'm glad I got my ticket for Friday's game, the prices would probably spike with it being Gomez's return.

I'm going to miss Wheeler and will have that what-if feeling of him in this rotation of studs we have. But oh well. It's not such a bad trade. Pretty fair I'd say.

I just hope we dont end up seeing Flores blossom into a great player (he certainly has some potential no doubt) and Wheeler becoming an ace, while Gomez doesn't live up to expectations. But I'll try not to be pessimistic.

    We're going for it now.

Holy shit was sitting next to Boras at dinner in The Chop House and he was on field for BP.

    I had no clue.

So does Gomez go to lead off?

Everyone assumed we'd have to trade Niese to make room for Wheeler eventually, instead we traded Wheeler and still have the big four plus Niese.

Is that really an issue? He'll be 31 by the time this contract is up, you might not want to re-sign him to an eight-year deal anyway.

Plus at least it's not a straight rental, it's a year plus the stretch this year. Hell we GOT Wheeler for a straight rental in the first place. I mean you can only stockpile the pitchers for so long, eventually one or two of them had to go. Assuming you had the big four, eventually you had to trade a couple of Wheeler/Montero/Fullmer and probably Niese too.

Gomez was 0-4 in today's Brew Crew game against the Giants. He batted 5th in their lineup.

Is Gomez going to turn it around? .262 8HR 43 RBI's these are very bad numbers. I'm not sure how many games he has played. I think he was battling an injury. Wheeler might have us feeling like blue jays fans feel about Noah Syndergaard. Nice of the fans to applaud Flores like that.

If 1 was gonna be traded it was gonna be Wheeler.

Plus we still have Montero, Fullmer and Ynoa in the system.

And Gomez might not be a long term player for us but he's not the type of rental player that Upton and Cespedes are.

He's a bridge to getting Lagares back healthy.

Btw Gomez has a .332 OBP so far this season with 23 BBs. Last year off of a .284 BA he had 47 BBs and a .356 OBP.

If I was Flores I'd be a blink away from crying. :(... but there's no crying in baseball. Ok Wilmer just broke my heart. He was crying.

He used to be lead off for us all the time. He just prefers not to be.

The Mets should have taken him out already. This kind of isn't cool.
