If you trade for Gomez you need to make an honest attempt to sign him. With presumably Lagares going back in the deal and Cuddyer off the books next year they can afford it. Heck Colon's off the books after this year, that's $25 million in payroll space right there by the time Gomez's deal is up although at least half of it will go to raises for existing players.

Bartolo has kicked himself out of being a bargaining chip. A summer rental so maybe the Mets could trade him for an offensive summer rental of their own. Maybe to an AL contender who needs pitching and has some bats. They could still trade him after Friday in a waiver deal.

I don't want Wheeler to be traded for just 1 bat. If it's Gomez then I'm happy but I'd hope we could also get either Segura or Will Smith from them in that type of deal.

Maybe it sounds greedy but just because Gomez , or any OF , would be an upgrade for us , it doesn't make him worth an amazing haul back.

Brew would be losing him for free after next season anyways.

If/when Matz comes back healthy, just go to a 5-man rotation with either Matz or Neise as the 4 and 5.

As for tonight, we gotta chip away at this lead. A run here and there will get us to a point in which we're a Duda/Grandy bomb away from tying it.

Damnit. While typing this, Murphy just lined into that Dp to end the inning.

Gomez is a five tool player in his prime.

And it sounds like Milwaukee's looking for a bidding war.

I'd hate to give Wheeler...but I won't complain if that's what it takes

How about Nimmo...and some other prospects?

This is freaking awful. It's like Colon was throwing BP.

    Didn't give us a chance.

2 on base with no outs. It would nice if we could have a big inning.

Comforto has a better eye than the ump. Not a strike but like Keith says you can't take a pitch like that with 2 strikes. No hits in a few games but he looks like he isn't over matched.

I'm cool with this if re-signing him is a real goal.

Face it, when you get to the Playoffs, you only need 1-4, and we already have studs at 1-4 WITHOUT Wheeler. It's ok to deal him, especially for a dynamic player like CarGo.

This is the issue. He is a Boras client. He is not re-signing.

Gomez is a great locker room guy, great with the fans, but swings his hardest every AB. He's not good at getting walked. He is a great player though. Congrats Mets fans.

Gary made a comment a few weeks ago that Lagares looks heavy. I have to agree with him.

Agree. We have him through next year too.
We won't see Wheeler for another year also.
I think Wheeler is a notch below the other four myself.

It's on now, and it's especially on next year. It's time

Gomez is a 5 tool player and brings high energy, with a chip on his shoulder, and brings speeeeeeed......

The only other guy that might've been better is Carlos Gonzalez. But his contract is a monster...
