I'm waiting at least 48hrs before installing. If this is an epic Win 8 style clusterfuck, I'll pass no harm done.
Someone at Gizmodo (tech blog) upgraded to Windows 10 and his experience: http://reviews.gizmodo.com/windows-10-day-one-1719864054 http://reviews.gizmodo.com/windows-10-day-two-1720099952 I will likely upgrade 2 weeks after the release just so any kinks will be fixed
Don't wait the 2 weeks, just get a copy of VMWare Workstation(torrent it) or Oracle's VirtualBox(free) and use those to try W10. That's what I'll be doing before I do an upgrade. If it sucks, you simply just delete the VM off your system and no harm done.
Thanks for the tip Antman.. I'm downloading VirtualBox right now from the Oracle website and will use it.

Well you're only about 30 miles from me. Enjoy your stay out here. I'd try to take mom out to the Shady Maple Smorgasbord in East Earl, PA. Its legendary in the quality and birthday folks eat for free!
Update did not work on my machine. I got a C1900208 error and I have no idea wtf that is sooo, I'm gonna download it to a USB stick and go that route.
got the sound fixed I searched and there was a long thread on the microsoft messageboards about it. Had to mess around with the device settings and now it's working. It's a bug in Windows 10, it should configure sound correctly itself if the previous format isn't compatible, but it doesn't.
In case anyone is having issues with the download, try this... I also just found out that you need to not have any 3rd party security software running in the background during the install. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked if he upgraded to Windows 10. His response: "I still love Vista, baby".
So far I haven't been able to transition to Win 10 via windows update. Looks like I'll have to d/l to a thumbdrive and locate a working Product Key for Win 10 Pro.
they are rolling it out in waves to people who reserved a copy I believe you can download it from their website also https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
