Both centers are of the best to ever play the position, but which one do you think was better in their prime. Here's some quick analysis of their accolades:

    Kevin Mawae (Active 1994-2009)
    Nick Mangold (Active 2006-Present)
Try to conceal your bias when answering (because who doesn't like Nick Mangold). Based on solely performance, who is better?

Mawae was a malcontent and locker room cancer. By that I mean he headed up the union and schooled players on how to push back against the front office and the nfl. We probably had to pay our guys 20% more just because Kevin ran the locker room.

Nick is the better player overall in my opinion but he still needs a few more elite years until he passes Kevin "officially". Kevin however was a more vocal leader.

Nick Mangold. Mawae was more athletic, but that's it.

    Joe Fields. ;)

Seriously, Mangold, but as another poster suggested, I think Mangold needs another couple of excellent seasons to be rated higher than Mawae. Both have their strengths and positives, I don't think either is an elite run blocker. Mawae was more athletic and could get to the second level, but struggled with blocking DL, especially NTs. Mangold is better at blocking NTs and DL, but doesn't have the athleticism or mobility to get to the second level that Mawae did. Different players in different eras. It's hard for me to compare them.

Three great C's right there, and three favorites of mine. Mangold in 2010 was dominant.

I'll always remember Nick wiping up the field with that dude Peko with the long hair on the Bengals in those two wins in 2010.

Peko looked like a girl running away from Mangold in those games, lmao

im picturing Mawae pulling from center and destroying people. Far more athletic than Mangold. Very close but I have to give Mawae the edge

    Mawae is an 8-time All-Pro.

    Mangold is a 2-time 2nd team All-Pro.

Mawae was the most physical center since Mike Webster.

As good as Mangold is, he is nowhere near the level of Mawae.

^^ Well that settles it boys. The Pats fan boi has defined this. Shut er down.

Btw, saying it's not close, and that Mawae is more physical, just shows you where he's coming from. Ridiculous

    STFU and GTFO.

Shouldn't you be trolling the "Brady is a cheating Scumbag" thread?

I didn't realize that AugustWest was a Pats fan boy. Thanks for that info. That clarifies and explains most of his responses, and his attitude.

Yeah, that's his style. He likes to lurk and then contradict people that are unaware he's a pats troll/boi.... and try to get them to bite on his BS

If we could just find one guy getting the snaps, whose as good as the guys giving them, we might really have something.

You know, even though they play the same position, they were very different. I think Mawae was definitely more physical and tough. The first memory that comes to mind when I hear Mawae was him playing with a cast on his right hand and snapping with his left hand. Fantastic player. Mangold is right there with him but he's had some down years as well. I'll have to give it to Mawae for now but can see Mangold being the better at the end of his career.

Mangold is a two time 1st team All-Pro, actually.

This is a tough call and Mangold is still active so hard for me to say. Mawae played effectively into his mid 30s, we'll see if Mangold can do it.

Mangold is a very good player and one of my favorite Jets but Mawae was the better player.

Mangold also had some injury issues while Mawae was more durable.

Mangold is a great player but Mawae probably gets the career value as of right now. Why Mawae isn't in the HOF is beyond me...... of course being a Jet for part of his career doesn't help his cause.
