Nice read on how/why things turned out the way they did. Revis basically says Idzik pulled the trigger and got this whole thing started, Woody had nothing to do with Revis being traded. He also lied to Revis when he told him this was Woody's decision/idea. http://nypost.com/2015/07/25/revis-glad-to-be-a-jet-again-says-idzik-wanted-him-out-of-ny/
Haha. Yeah, it's fun I always thought it was Woody. But after seeing Woody grovelling to get Darrelle back I guess not
Does Idzik still have his job with the Jaguars by the way? Getting their GM coffee and a bagel each morning? Wasn't that his assignment?
I think his job was to conserve cap space by telling the GM he should thoroughly consider his breakfast choice before buying the bagel. He was fired after all the bagels sold out while he was still thinking.
By far the most hated and loathed member in the history of this organization for me. He is like the Richard Nixon of the Jets FO. Unforgivable what he did.
Idzik is like a bad memory that wont fade just yet. I hope this is the last tidbit we hear about him.
So Revis's greed and holdouts had nothing to do with a GM not wanting to deal with his agents? There's 3 sides to every story, and I will not take the mercenaries word for it.
sucks but at least we got Sheldon from the trade, and Revis returned back to the Jets [wherever we like it or not] We should all laugh at the Bucs lol
There were no issues with Revis in terms of him holding out or him asking for more money or anything like that. At least not that I'm aware of.
Yeah and some on this board wanted Idzik to stay. If he were still here we would have gotten a couple of questionable cheap free agents and whiffed on the draft again while the rest of the AFC East got better.
Right, Revis is a bad guy 'cause that idiot Greg Schiano threw money at him hand over fist. Nobody else was paying that much. Where the fuck is he now? With Izdick now?
I tried to find a gif of a bus running over someone, backing up and running over someone again, but couldn't. Guess I should be glad! I'll leave the creative photoshopping to some of you. I don't hate Idzik. He wasn't competent, but I guess he did the best he could. At any rate, I'm just glad he's gone. I wonder if Revis considered the possibility that perhaps Woody is lying to him to save face. At any rate, it doesn't really matter. It's water under the bridge. Revis left, and he's back, and Idzik's gone. That's really all that matters.
Schiano refused to use his best attributes. Plus Revis wasn't fully healthy that yr. Tough times, but that fucker asked for too much cash. It was toxic down in TB. I thought Idzik handled the situation well, it was the only thing he did right for the Jets.
we prob get a shitty coach too. Idzik wanted that Seattle DC. What if he waited on him and Bowles get hired else-where?
The quote below indicates that neither side wanted to give in on their demands and the Jets wanted to get something for him before he became a free agent. He also signed a 96 million dollar deal with TB, second only to Mario Williams that year. It has always been about the money with Revis. I don't blame him for treating it like a business, I would do the same, but he has no right placing blaming on the GM when they also want to treat it like a business. Anywho it's water under the bridge, my biggest concern is the QB position. Jets general manager John Idzik cited multiple reasons for the trade, namely the inability to negotiate a long-term extension with the cornerback and a "degree of uncertainty" regarding Revis' rehab from a serious knee injury suffered last season. "It became quite evident to us that there is a substantial difference between Darrelle's view of his value and ours," Idzik said Sunday during a conference call. "We felt there would have to be a significant change on either side in order to create a path toward reaching an agreeable deal for either side."
