thanks for sharing. These quotes, in particular, are so true when referring to the Jets offense the last two years. Dead on.

Poor Smith. If he wasn't playing bad football for the team I am a fan of, I might almost feel sorry for him.

At this point I'm almost fed up with reading things like this about Geno. At first it instilled optimism into a quarterback situation otherwise presenting none, but I've never seen such an influx of praise for a player who's performed this badly. I think he will be decent this year, but it'd be aggravating to see an entire offseason of "experts" praising him only to see him go out and do the same things.

Question is? Should we be starting the worst rated QB or the third best rated second srtirng QB?

Pretty much any QB would look good without a defense trying to rip your head off.

if Mac (for some reason) cut Geno, would ANY team bring him in? I don't see it.

In life, how do you want to be? It's easy to think no one wants to be negative, but then you see people who seem to have that kind of basic tendency. I don't think such people are all the same, arriving at that condition by the same manner. But howevere people become that way, would anyone want to be, choose to be, that way if you could avoid it somehow?

And what of those who seem to be the opposite? Always the sunny disposition, uncomplaining about days when the weather is truly awful, looking happy when most others are at best indifferent. Does it look like fun, or given your own general life experience is it an approach that looks hard to keep up, or even foolish?

Then there is the middle ground, which in reality I think is more of a mix made up of elements further out in both, yes both, directions on the spectrum. One does not have to be bipolar to feel better at some times, worse at others.

This being the off season, optimism is certainly more in the air than, say, it was while winding down what became a 4-12 season. But for those in the middle, how does one attempt one's optimism? Because there are different ways to be optimistic. Here on these boards we are all too familiar with the sort who rather transparently buck themselves up with a strong dose of Geno Love. The Love where hope does not only triumph over Experience so far, but at times seems to willfully ignore it. Or more cleverly, if you want to call this clever, by minimizing the predictive value of his "work" to date, or perhaps maximizing criticisms of his teammates to date, his OC, and of course not ruling out a combination of the minimizing and maximizing.

Perhaps the better way to be optimistic lies in the realization that despite the apparent way even the new CS is stacking the deck in Smith's favor, the end result of him actually starting on Opening Day remains something less than a foregone conclusion. We are in fact not quite there yet.

So to cut to the chase I am going to be optimistic that Fitzpatrick so clearly outplays Smith up until Opening Day, that his leg completely heals, that the CS, whehter forced or otherwise, ends up choosing Fitz, and we end up never having to see No. 7 again under center or on the field at all ever again, meaning until someone else wears the number.

Now that is a kind of optimism that really works, and is quite appealing.

    Well said.

Good closing argument before the verdict.

Here's my Question with Geno.... When he has a bad game or 2, how long will his leash be? How many Bad games in a row before he gets benched?

6 to 8 or 10 are you high? You realize the season is only 16 games and with the Patriots, Bills and Dolphins in our division the stakes have been raise. If Bowles throws this turd Geno out there for 8 games and we have 1 win like last season then Bowles will have an Idzik term with the Jets.

I so agree. Fitz could be our Vinny. Geno has the Ken O'Brien disease. He can only beat the Dolphins.

You must have forgotten to take your meds because I said 4. Depending on his performance in those 4 games it could turn into 6-10. I work part time helping elders read at the home down the road give me a call and I can help you out sometime.

Thanks but you still sound crazy with 4 games. Unless that is the 4 preseason games because that would be the last time I want to see him.

The Lingerie league might be interested. The CFL would be too much for Geno.
