I don't think it's a question of whether you think cheatings right or wrong or about the business model. It's more of the fact of whether anyone can really feel sorry for people's relationships and families being ruined because they were caught cheating.

Greenday defended the fact that it was wrong for their personal life to be destroyed because hackers stole their information from a cheating website. My point is that it doesn't really matter how they find out, I simply am not sympathetic to someone irregardless of how they're caught.

You're right though the business model is brilliant even though the paid discretion part failed the members.

Oh I see - Yeah, I agree with you. I don't feel sorry for anyone there haha

it is kind of ironic that AM got hacked. the ONE thing they promised they would provide as a service is in jeopardy. I read where just last week they called themselves the last truly secure place on the internet ha. Also its funny to me that the hackers decided to do what they did because they said AM was dishonest about their charges. dishonest? on a cheating site? you don't say..

If they are looking for who the hackers are/who organized them, I'd start with looking at divorce attorneys, aka those with the most to gain from this scenario!

A site like this isn't supposed to be out in the forefront or going public. You'd think it would be quiet and private and not kind of out there flaunting it. It's not promoting great values in society. Apparently they're successful and making money on it. I mean Heidi Fleiss was successful but wasn't looking to go on a stock exchange. If they're legal and people want to buy their service I guess ok. But don't flaunt it or the hackers will try and get you.

A person from Boston is the first to be outed. Can't post article as it's annoying to do on a phone.

i don't condone cheating, but Ashley Madison pales in the lurid dealings that "the Silk Road" used to when that site was active.

I can't imagine people would use their real names to register on this site, but maybe I'm naive. Does Ashley Madison have any ID checks in place? You don't have to send them a selfie with your ID or anything, right? So why use your real name? Also you can buy Vanilla Visa cards with cash at your local Walgreens to use as CCs.

Not in favor for what this group is doing to AM, but if you used your real info on this site you're a dumbass and I don't feel sorry for you at all.

Something tells me that the people using this site weren't forward thinking enough to buy disposable credit cards. I also think that people would use real information because they are paying for discretion. Not sure though.

There was a ramp in New Jersey off Route 3 heading into NYC that had, on at least 5 occasions, had oil spilled on the ramp where cars slid off the road into a guard. At the bottom of the ramp was a body shop..which lucked out getting MOST of the cars that crashed for repair. The investigation went on for over a month...before a camera was secretly set up and to everyone's amazement, the tow truck from the body shop at the bottom of the hill is pictured pulling up at night while it was raining and a person gets out of the truck and splashes some kind of liquid on the ramp. Within an hour, a car is seen slipping off the ramp..into the guard rail.

    So...BN...that wouldnt surprise me bud.

If AM paid off these hackers it's setting an awfully lucrative precedent for the next set of hackers. Hack us and we'll pay you off. Of course they will ramp up their security, but in the end it's just a cat and mouse game and if a ton of money is on the table, someone else will break in and threaten them again.

You would have to think it's in the $20-$40 million range. Their CEO Noel Biderman has a net worth of $100 million. While it doesn't translate exactly to his exact money count, the site is definitely worth a pretty penny.

That would sound about right considering the IPO was in the range of $200 million.

Like Vilma said, most people probably used their normal credit cards because it's easier and they never imagined the site would get hacked.

Wife: "Honey, who is this Ashley Madison and why is there a $19.95 payment to her?"
Husband: "OH, uh, that's the uh... lemme look at that." *Grabs paper and eats it*
