Kerley isn't a " Beast" just fucking stop it I mean really....He's an average player at best ....but he is a good gadget player and can make a big play every now and then.Kerley just has never been consistently good as in every game...there's times I forget he's even on the roster.Kerley reminds me of Santonio Holmes when he was great only he isn't as explosive and isn't consistent...But with that said we have had peice of shit after peice of shit at QB so who knows how good he really is
lmao i'm on his nuts because i have faith in the QB of my team? ok... like i said... Kerley was on pace to have a better year than 2012 WITH GENO in 2013.. if you have nothing football to say about that then just leave it at that.. i think you're on Sanchez's nuts if you really think he's a "real" QB. smh
You are actually going to blame Geno for his poor performance? Really? Kerley is an above average slot receiver at best. He sucked last year because our #1 receiver was Decker who was hurt all the time so Kerley was regularly forced to go against CBs better than him. He never got open so he didn't catch many passes. Harvin came in and took more pressure off Kerley at the end of the year but that was when Decker was regularly hurt. But yea, totally Geno's fault that Kerley was mismatched against #1 and #2 CBs who regularly cover top end receivers. Or maybe it was Geno's fault in 2013, when Kerley missed four games due to injury. Or the fact that once again, he was forced to play higher up on the depth chart than he deserved. Holmes wasn't the receiver he used to be. Other than him, opposing DBs had no one to worry about? Nelson? Hill? Winslow? Hahahahaha. Covering that WR corps would be as easy as covering leftovers after dinner with tin foil. Against slot corners, Kerley can do what he does best. Against #1s and #2s, he just doesn't have the talent level to shake those guys and get open.
I agree that we have a similar view on the subject. This thread wasn't really a counter to yours. I've been meaning to post this for a while because it seems quite a few people forgot how effective Kerley can be because of last year's down year. Your thread just prompted me to finally post this.
I agree completely that he is much better off in the slot than the outside. But to say he doesn't have the talent level to shake any #1 or #2 CB's is absurd. He made Brandon Browner and Jonathan Joseph both look silly in that video and I saw him soundly beat Patrick Peterson in another video. Those 3 are regarded as some of the very best CB's in the entire NFL. (I knew I'd rile up some Geno fanboys with that subtle comment )
Kerley was very good when compared to the low expectations people had of a 5th round pick. He really isn't that good when compared to a normal NFL receiver, slot or otherwise. That's not to say he doesn't have some value, because he does, but he's not a big plus receiver in any situation. He's just a guy who makes most of the catches he should.
Kerley is that good as a slot receiver. With a QB...and a legitimate outside talent, he;d be unstoppable. Lets see how he does, inside of D.Smith, in unbalanced 4 WR sets.
I just don't see this. Wes Welker is an unstoppable slot receiver. He's quick and he makes great cuts and he extends for the ball well with some issues on high hard ones. That's the definition of unstoppable slot receiver. Kerley is a decent receiver but he hasn't demonstrated the pin-point route running skills that Welker has and he isn't as quick and he just hasn't had that impact. He was at his best when he lined up with another receiver who was a better version of him and who the defense really had to account for. Santonio Holmes made him much more effective.
I was shocked he was even resigned. Cmon with the WRs out there we could have easily upgraded him. IMHO a very poor decision by the GM
No chance. Why don't you enlighten me? List some better FA WR's that were signed at his price tag this offseason.
The Kerley extension was a good extension. He got $3M to sign and gets $2M this year and $2.6M next. If he works out that's a bargain and the bargain is still great in the backend of the deal. If he doesn't workout, we're looking at a 2 year hit of $1.2M a year. Given where the salary cap is going that's peanuts for a 2nd deal.
Stevie Johnson made Revis look stupid once. I'm not sure what your point is. Kerley cannot consistently beat #1s or #2s.
Nice video. Kerley is a solid slot WR, but he struggles when forced to play outside. He should be better this year since the Jets have Marshall and Decker to play on the outside, allowing Kerley to run slants and other quick routes from the slot.
