No you won't. Take Hobbes advice and go for the opening/closing dogfights. The remainder of the movie is towel-snapping, neo-gay locker room voguing along with a Tom Cruise - Kelly McGillis subplot featuring one of the shittiest songs and dreariest hooks in pop music: "Take My Breath Away."

Even with all that said, still love that movie. Tell me you didn't tear up when.... SPOILER ALERT!!!! Goose died. Btw, my brother is/was a Marine fighter pilot and he said that couldn't have happened and that many of the stunts were just over the top unrealistic, but still IMHO very cool for us non-fighter pilot types. _
Syl Johnson should have been a bigger star than he was. He was stuck behind Al Green in his prime and on the same label! Life sucks sometimes..... but talent will always stand out.

Went to the U2 concert at MSG last Sunday night and it was outstanding. I get that the band and especially Bono has a lot of haters but if you are a fan or simply neutral, it was fantastic. A bunch of us went and I finally took my older son and while he's listened to them over the years, he's not a die hard and he said it was one of the best, most energy filled concerts he's ever been to. He loved it. Lots of energy on stage and they still sound great. It was also my birthday thanks for nothing you bastids. _
Why, because we called them out on the neo-towel-snapping-gaydar inducing aspect of the film? The beach Volleyball scene probably plays behind the DJ at the Toolbox, on (Dressed like) Ladies Night.... Then couple that with Goose's angst over Maverick leaving him and the boys to run off to that icky girl... That having been said...the fighter scenes...make it Must See T.V. (get the double entendre I ended with...haha)
