By the way there are 37Million on this site. DAMN! The Threat: Article: A dating website that helps married people cheat has been hit by hackers who threatened to release information about millions of customers. Ashley Madison, which uses the advertising slogan "Life is short. Have an affair," said Monday it had been attacked and some user data was stolen. So far, though, it isn't easy to find the exposed cheaters online. That could change soon if the hackers decide to publish the information on a public website. Brian Krebs, the blogger who first reported the breach, said the hackers were threatening to release all Ashley Madison's customer records if the website isn't shut down. The hackers called themselves the "Impact Team," and the potential release includes "profiles with all the customers' secret sexual fantasies and matching credit card transactions, real names and addresses, and employee documents and emails." In a statement, Avid Life Media, the parent company, said: "At this time, we have been able to secure our sites, and close the unauthorized access points. We are working with law enforcement agencies, which are investigating this criminal act." http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/20/technology/ashley-madison-hack/ *Grabs popcorn*
So, their solution to one group's dishonesty is to do a dishonest deed themselves by ruining people's lives and possibly exposing them to fraud? Yea, real heroes there.
I don't know if anyone is particularly concerned with whether their purity is somehow hypocritical in the face of their actions. I think this is great. One, cheating simply gives too much power over you to someone else who can reveal that cheating, nevertheless putting that cheating in somebody else's database online which has to always be considered vulnerable. The stupidity of that alone makes it entertaining to see the users unveiled.
Can't wait until someone here finds out their spouse is cheating on them AND someone has used this info to steal their identity thereby screw both your credit ratings and bank accounts. But yea, keep rooting for it.
some users info have been leaked. No credit info though. Should be on 4chan or reddit soon. There was a list on gedit earlier but it was taken down.
I can't say that I'm for or against this but my god the extortion possibilities for these hackers are endless. Imagine the high ranking business and government officials that are probably all over this site. Going to ruin some lives for sure when it's leaked.
lol..this is actually pretty funny. Should be interesting...Madison has her back up against the wall here. To shutdown or not? Pretty lame if she doesn't play nice and they have what they say they have.
