I think he was an All Pro at that point. Mawae had nothing left in his final 2 years I think.

He brings 0 value to the passing game. The Jets could very well still resign Snacks, if they feel they don't want to work a deal with Richardson right away due to his off the field issues. Actually they could retain Coples AND Snacks if they truly wanted to.

If Snacks wants 15M / yr, he can absolutely leave.

Considering the cap, this seasons spending spree and the depth at dline, we may be better suited playing the comp pick game next year. Snacks could net us a 4th easily

From an outsider's standpoint, I was hoping the Browns would make an offer to Snacks this offseason when you guys only slapped a second round tender on him. Teams don't want to give up a draft pick but then you (the Browns) go and use the #12 overall pick on an unproven player at the same position?

    Overthinking themselves.

Off-season talkers award goes to Snacks.

2013 – Richardson – "I don’t feel like Mo’s the best defensive player in the league. I am."
    2014 – Milliner – "Best Cornerback"
    2015 – Harrison – "Best Nose Tackle"
2016 - Geno Smith - "Best QB in da league"

I was really surprised nobody made an offer for Snacks. I figured the price was going to be low enough that somebody would jump at the chance to get a young run-stuffer to anchor their defense for 4 or 5 seasons. However, RFA's just haven't gotten offers in recent years. It's not clear that there's collusion involved but the absence of offers for RFA's effectively gives NFL teams a cheap 3rd or 4th year option on players that slipped through the draft process. It's clearly in the NFL's interests to have those guys playing for the tender value instead of hitting the market when they are borderline stars.

The really damning thing on a potential collusion case is that these guys don't even get offers most of the time. They have to do the legwork and nobody is really interested. That's kind of a heavy trail of smoke.

I don't know, teams really value their draft picks. Giving up 4 years off cheap team control that a rookie would provide AND paying big free agent dollars on top of it is a tough thing to do, especially for a defensive lineman that doesn't rush the passer. I've been surprised in the past about players not getting offers but those were usually guys on lower tenders. Danario Alexander comes to mind.

Yes let's ignore all of the other cogs in those defenses. Would you rather have Richard Seymour or Vince Wilford? Ray Lewis or Tony Siragusa?

We're in the first year of an entirely new regime, and I don't really think there's any way of actually guessing who will stay and who will go. Considering the potential cap room from what happens with Brick and Cro, and the possibility that either Mo or Sheldon will fall out of favor with the front office, Snacks could end up being on the team for a few years. I'm not waving goodbye to just anybody yet.

I don't think he is but that's okay nothing wrong with being one of the best.

Until the Jets get a QB worthy of the big money keep as much of this D intact as possible it's the backbone of the team.

New York Jets = Baltimore Ravens when Ray Lewis and Ed Reed were in their prime.

we'll make an offer to him, but it'll be a modest one.

an elite run stuffing NT without much pass rushing ability thats likely to be taken off the field come 3rd down only has but so much value.

muhammad is worth over 10 million a year for being a top tier DE in a 3-4. Damon might take 3 years to make what Wilkerson does in 1. he's probably only worth maybe 4 a year at best being a part time nose.
I'm thinking 3 years, 12 million, 6 million guaranteed, with a 1.5 million dollar signing bonus.

    cap hit:
    2016- 250000
    2017- 400000
    2018- 550000

reasonable, should fit the cap, top end for a man of his position and playing time.

watch dontari poe's contract situation in KC and check out some other deals for NT's here http://overthecap.com/position/3-4-defensive-tackle/, its the only other mark of whats to come I can think of.

One of Macc's problems is going to be the Cap. I love the moves in resigning Revis, Cro, David Harris etc...but it comes at a cost.

Revis was overpaid big time, David Harris was also overpaid, they upped Brandon Marshall's deal, the signed Cro to a pretty massive deal (considering his age), and Skrine cost a good sum too.

I wouldn't want to be in his situation because he has to find a way to sign Wilkerson to a massive deal. I doubt Sheldon will get a deal, and there's also no space for Snacks. Retaining players is going to be hard for this regime although I like their moves.

Just trying to think of how the Jets can dump a good amount of money to free up their cap. They could try and trade D'Brickashaw (his time is fading). That would free up about 9 million next year. Problem is that Brick is one of the only reliable lineman besides Mangold on very poor offensive line.

When this season is over people are going to realize that Cromartie is probably the most underpaid player on this team.

I'm going to wait out this year to see if he's elite.

Kerry Jenkins was elite but injuries cut short his effectiveness for us.

He's not KJ but he could be a disruptive force in the middle of all that talent.

I have to see whether it's him or the guys around him.

3 years, 12 million, 6 million guaranteed, with a 1.5 million dollar signing bonus? Not bad numbers. He should get less than Dontari Poe because Poe is a 3 down lineman. Snacks has 0 productivity on passing downs.

I will tell you what, that Vinny O'Brien was the best QB we had since Joe Namath.
